Cermet – exotic cutting material or real game changer?
Cermet combines ceramic components such as TiC and TiCN with a metallic binder based on nickel and cobalt. This material concept results in high hardness, good oxidation resistance and a low affinity with steel, clearly distinguishing cermet from conventional carbide grades.
In finishing operations, the low affinity with steel is a key advantage. It helps suppress built-up edge formation, leading to stable cutting edges, reduced plastic deformation and a consistent, high-quality surface finish.
The CVD-coated cermet grade CCX is specifically designed for continuous cutting operations and high cutting speeds. It offers an efficient, high-performance alternative to conventional CVD-coated carbide grades in finishing applications.

What can you discover at our booth at AMB? Let’s take a walk. 👀

Reiner takes us through our booth in Stuttgart and gives you a closer look at the different topics, applications and solutions we brought to AMB 2026.

We start with Automotive, where the focus is on efficient and process-reliable machining for modern automotive production.
Just a few steps further, we move into Fluid Power and take a closer look at solutions for demanding machining applications in hydraulic valve bodies.
