An insight into an automated manufacturing process at Eckerle – with 𝟐𝐊 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 as a key process step.
A previously manufactured 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 is automatically picked, precisely positioned and subsequently 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐞. The combination of pick & place, rotary indexing technology and overmolding enables a continuous and precisely coordinated production process.
Different automation solutions are integrated into the process – from the articulated robot handling the components to the compact SCARA robot. Each movement is precisely coordinated with the following process step.
The result: a 2K component combining plastic and silicone, manufactured in a highly automated process with a focus on repeatability, precision and process reliability.
