Sonic PS.21S "PSS" engine announcement

Following the release of the PS.12S we are able to announce the updated PS.21S PSS engine. Like the 2,11ccm pendant the new 3,5ccm version sports a die-cast crankcase as well as an updated cooling head, piston-sleeve set and crankshaft to fit the new crankcase. Additionally the new aluminium carburettor ensures an optimized mixture flow which makes the tuning of the engine way easier. In combination with an entry-level price this makes the PS.21S an excellent choice for beginners and enthusiastic hobby racers that want to keep an eye on their budget.

However the pre-production batch was shipped out with 8.5mm venturis which was a mistake. Customers, that were lucky to get one of these early engines, can contact their dealer to get an 8mm venturi which is mandatory at most racing series. The next batch will be equipped with the correct 8mm venturi and should be availble in a couple of days.

Sonic PS.12S "PSS" engine 2021 released

We are happy to officially release the updated PS.12S 2,11ccm engine. The 2021 variant sports a new crankcase which is made by die-casting to avoid blowholes as well as an updated cooling head, piston-sleeve set and crankshaft to fit the new crankcase.
As the engine is used as the mandatory engine at various events across Europe - like the McBest Cup in Switzerland or the Pro Stock Series and Nitro West Masters in Germany - we kept the price a very competetive level to attract beginners and amateur racers.

The first batch is already sold out so make sure to pre-order yours in time!

Sonic Nitro Engines proudly presents a new buggy competition engine.

All components of the SB.21-5T have been made from the finest materials to ensure high durability and reliability. Equipped with a 5 ports sleeve and a CNC machined flat piston, the engine provides great power over the entire RPM range while having a very efficient fuel consumption which can be crucial in the finals.

The 14mm turbo crankshaft is equipped with two high density weights to improve the overall balancing and filled with a silicone insert to reduce the inertia and improve the fuel flow.

The special back plate, the optimized crankcase and the knife edged aerodynamic connecting rod help even more to reduce turbulence inside the engine.

A special super lightweight cooling head ensures best heat dispersion to keep the engine temperature at a moderate level. High quality Swiss ball bearings, a dust protected front bearing, a modern composite valve carburetor and venturis in 6.5mm, 7.0mm and 8.0mm made of aluminium complete this new high competition engine.

SONIC NITRO ENGINES CLAIMS TOP5 AT WEST GERMAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Sonic Nitro Engines had a great season claiming the top 5 positions in the final points standing of the competetive West German Championship. Changing to Sonic X.12-FT engines just before the 2014 season Bernd Rausch (using Sonic in 3 out of 4 races) , René Püpke, Arndt Bernhard, Benny Lehmann and Melvin Diekmann scored various top results in their first season with Sonic.

At the last race in Hamm TQ went to Benjamin Lehmann who was the only one to complete 18 laps (5.15,485). Bernd Rausch (17/5.01,749), René Puepke (17/5.03,135), Arndt Bernhardt (17/5.04,794) and Melvin Diekmann (17/5.06,613) followed on positions two, three, five and six to make it five X.12-FT in the top 6. Südhoff powered by Sonic

Known for his electric touring car skills Freddy Südhoff took a deep nitro sniff and joined the 3rd round of the Central German Championship in the 1/8th on-road class. Never having raced a 1/8th scale car before he got familiar with his loan Sonic powered Velox V8 "EC" very quick and clocked the fastest laptimes already in free practise.

In qualifying he took the TQ being the only driver to reach 25 laps with his fastest laptime 0,2 sec faster than the rest of the field. In the semi-final A everything went fine and he claimed to pole-position for the 30min final has he did two laps more than Philip Sting who was the winner of the semi-final B.

Right from the start of the final "Fast Freddy" stormed away and increased the gap lap by lap. As the tyre wear was very moderate his laptimes were still very fast towards the end of the race although he pused the whole final. After 30min he crossed the finishing line 6 laps in front of the rest of the field claiming the victory at his first 1/8th scale race.

Freddy had the following to say:

"First of all I would like to thank Team Shepherd / Sonic for giving me this opportunity, Oliver Mack for the borrowed car and Armin Weihert for the perfect preperation. The Sonic powered Velox V8 "EC" worked perfectly all weekend and it was a great debut in this class. As I had a lot of fun I plan to do a second qualyfing race for the German Nationals to have the possibility to qualify for the European Championship A next year."

VOGL WINS SOUTH GERMAN CHAMPIONSHIP Rd1

Last weekend the first round of the South German Championship took place at the fast track of Bamberg. Sonic driver Maxi Vogl showed a great performance all weekend with his Velox V8 "EC" / Sonic X.21-FT combo.

In qualifying he took the TQ 4,4 sec in front of Armin Baier followed by Oliver Lembeck another 0,7sec down. Due to bad weather the final was shortened to 20min. The crowd saw a clean start at the front of the grid and Maxi immediatelly pulled away taking control of the race. Lap by lap he increased the gap on the rest of the field and crossed the finishing line 2 laps in front of Oliver Lembeck with Armin Baier completing the podium another lap down.

PÜPKE WINS WEST GERMAN SEASON OPENER WITH HIS NEW X.12 ENGINE

Last weekend also the first race of the western german Championship took place in Dormagen.

After three qualifying heats René Püpke was top qualifier while Bernd Rausch made it to the third position. Youngest Sonic driver Melvin Diekmann was in 6th position after the qualification.

In the main Püpke who already used a new X.12 engine had to fight for the leading position only during the early stage of the 30-minutes race when Rausch was hot on his tail. But finally Püpke drove a clean and superior race to celebrate a strong victory with a two-lap advantage over the second placed driver Benjamin Lehmann. Bernd Rausch ended up in 8th position and Melvin Diekmann didn't make it to the final because of some technical problems in the semi.

Congratulations to the whole team, great show guys!
