In order to create a sustainable world, all industries must contribute their share. The German agricultural industry utilizes half of the land space available in the country to produce dairy products, grains, potatoes, wine, hops, fruits, vegetable, and more. Naturally, such activities produce a lot of . However, this biowaste has value. It can be used to generate renewable gases such as or .

The Status Seminar Hydrogen and Power-to-X with a focus on Biogas and Agriculture, organized by C.A.R.M.E.N. e.V., aimed to discuss the synergies between the agricultural industry and renewable gas producers like MicroPyros GmbH. Project engineer Simon Schneller first gave a presentation on the role biological methanation can play in the agricultural sector and later gave a tour of our newest project, BioFARM. Biological methanation can consume the CO2 that usually makes up around 50% of and convert that into biomethane, which can be stored in the natural gas grid and reduce dependency foreign natural gas imports.

It was our pleasure to welcome Minister of the Bayerisches Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft Mr. Hubert Aiwanger, the Lord Mayor of the city of Straubing Markus Pannermayr, Mrs. Cristina Pop from SER Straubing and many other guests to our newly finished laboratory in Straubing. In this lab, MicroPyros’ microbiologist are working hard to push the boundaries of , a process that stores electricity and CO2 as .

We would also like to welcome our new neighbors, Microbify GmbH and Frauenhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology IGB.

Last week on the 28th of July, MicroPyros GmbH, Pietro Fiorentini Spa, SER (Straubinger Entwässerung und Reinigung), and officials from the city of Straubing (Straubing.de) came together for the groundbreaking ceremony of MicroPyros’ new Research Biological Methanation Plant. This plant will be dedicated to unlocking the full potential of the biological methanation process. It will test reactor and component designs, different input gases, and much more!
