Innovation Doesn't Happen in Isolation. It Happens Through Partnership.
And it leads to one of the most promising innovations in the modern carpet industry.
In a joint venture, a new bicomponent BCF (BICO BCF) yarn technology has been developed and tested demonstrating the industrial processing and performance benefits of a more sustainable, high-performance solution for the carpet industry.
The BICO BCF yarn has been successfully processed through the complete carpet manufacturing chain, from spinning, cabling and heatsetting to tufting and coating.
As heatsetting experts, we at Power-Heat-Set are delighted to have been part of this journey. Our innovative heatsetting technology contributed to transforming a promising concept into a commercially viable solution for the future of sustainable carpet manufacturing, helping to achieve the performance characteristics that make this technology so compelling.
What is so special about BICO BCF yarn is that the yarn is not made from just one type of plastic, but combines two different polymers (mostly PET/polyester based) in a single fiber which leads to the following advantages:
✅ Cost-effectiveness: Greater volumes, i.e. higher bulk, with less material saves costs and conserves resources.
✅ Durability: The extremely high resilience (up to class 33) makes the yarn ideal for commercial applications (offices, hotels, public buildings).
✅ Processability: Excellent processability across the complete value chain.
✅ Sustainability & Recyclability: Enables closed-loop recycling concepts ("carpet-to-carpet recycling").
This combination makes the material one of the most promising innovations in the modern carpet industry.
Congratulations, and many thanks to all the teams involved for their excellent cooperation on this project. We look forward to continuing this collaboration and helping shape the next generation of sustainable carpet solutions.
