Our journey at the ILA 2026 ILA Berlin Messe Berlin

Thank you Matthias Maurer for the opportunity to present our current avionics development and the conversation yesterday.

Come visit us on saturday and sunday between Hall B and C, where we present together with other .space student clubs.

Today:

🚀 We will show you S²OUTH, our 100km+ telemetry and video transmission system for N₂ORTH-3 in collaboration with

🪂 Other experiments we want to present are THRIVE, a wound healing experiment in microgravity, and DAEDALUS-2, our autorotation reentry module.

We are happy to announce PID test & engineering as our first supporting member at WüSpace! In our first meeting, we talked about various ways of testing space hardware. For future projects, our collaboration will enable us to further exchange knowledge and to educate the next generation of space engineers

Meet our mascot Healy 🦎, a wound healing axolotl, which joined us for the first time and accompanied us through this final test. Our experiment focuses on the research of accelerated wound healing technologies and is therefore closely inspired by nature, for example found in axolotls.

We have successfully completed our final bench test in Oberpfaffenhofen before the Launch Campaign in Sweden.
Over the past weeks, we worked intensively on the experiment, fixed remaining issues, and tested the system thoroughly under realistic conditions.
With this milestone, THRIVE is now fully ready for flight.

During this campaign, we tested our automatic cooling control system for the first time in its full operational scope. The controller operates completely autonomously and the results were a full success, validating the system performance at scale.

We also trained and validated our late access procedures for sample insertion and established a robust timeline to ensure that all temperatures remain at −12 °C throughout the critical phases.

This test marks an important moment:
The experiment is now finalized and handed over.
From here on, we will not see THRIVE again until the Launch Campaign in Sweden this March 🇸🇪🚀

Next stop: Sweden.
Launch is getting closer.

Today marks the first Digital Independence Day, and to spread the word, we’re sharing the steps we’ve taken toward digital sovereignty so far! 🚀

We moved away from Twitter, since the platform was directed towards disinformation and hate speech. Although we have less followers on Mastodon and Bluesky, we’ve found the communities to be much more welcoming and authentic.

Most of our web services are now self-hosted. For example, our team photos live in a self-hosted Immich instance. Thanks to our dedicated sysadmins, everything is running flawlessly! We even created some custom services like a tool to view our legal documents like the constitution of our club.

The majority of our members have switched from Windows to Linux. Not only is the development experience for our hardware projects much smoother, but it also allows us to avoid proprietary software almost entirely.

We believe in sharing knowledge, which is why many of our projects are Open Source. By publishing our work, we can contribute our research progress to other student teams and the wider scientific community.

Thanks for this initiative to CCC and Marc-Uwe Kling 🦘

Over the past week, THRIVE had the opportunity to integrate and test our experiment module on REXUS 36 at ZARM in Bremen. For the first time, all subsystems and components came together on the rocket, and got verified as a complete system.

We successfully passed the shaker test and qualified our in-house developed hardware and software towards flight readiness. A huge thank you to everyone who made this possible!

Now we’re pushing hard to finalize the project, and we’ll see you at Bench Test Week in Oberpfaffenhofen on January 12, 2026.
The launch of REXUS 35 & 36 is currently planned for March 2026. 🚀

Is WüSpace launching now?!?
No, at least not yet. However, we have been invited by Aerospace Team Graz to fly a payload on their hybrid rocket at EuRoC this year, and we would never say no to such an opportunity. Thanks for having us!
As the launch date is approaching, members of our project have arrived in Portugal, and are preparing our video and telemetry system - "the cube" - for integration.

This week we visited , a german aerospace congress. Alongside our friends at .tum, , , .ev, and , we got to connect with actors in the german aerospace sector, and showed how students can participate in the field.
Huge thanks to for inviting us!
