A recent Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR, India)-led study used RNA-seq, machine learning, and deep learning to identify biomarkers associated with progression from dengue fever to severe dengue.
We were pleased to see TRANSFAC® used in the regulatory enrichment analysis. The study reported MTF-1 and Kaiso motif signals among differentially expressed genes, linking severe dengue progression to metal ion homeostasis, oxidative stress, ferroptosis, and stress-response regulation. This is exactly where curated regulatory knowledge adds value to AI-driven biomarker discovery: ML models can identify predictive signatures, while TRANSFAC® helps explain the regulatory mechanisms behind them.
Congratulations to the authors Srilekha Anumulapuri Dr. J J Venkata Nagamani . Dr. Agiesh Kumar Balakrishna Pillai Dr. Srinivasa Rao Mutheneni from Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR, India), , and Institute of Advanced Virology.
At geneXplain, we are proud to see TRANSFAC® supporting scientists in infectious disease research, biomarker discovery, and systems-level interpretation of transcriptomic data.
