Jens Bundgaard, shares two more of his best fiber blowing tips 💡

- Maintain your equipment. After completing the fiber blowing installation, clean the machine with water, then dry-blow it to remove any remaining moisture. Grease the chains and perform any routine maintenance. Proper care will keep your machine in excellent condition and extend its life for many years.

- Keep the work area organized. Maintain a tidy workspace throughout the job. Return all tools and accessories to their designated places after use so they are easy to find the next time you need them.

Our Area Sales Manager, Jens, shares two of his best fiber blowing tips 💡

- 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝. Make sure you have everything you need before starting the blowing process, including petrol for the power pack, FlowLub, sponges, cable tips and a drum rack.

- 𝐈𝐟 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐡𝐨𝐭/𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐥/𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. Place the cable drum in a suitable location the day before. If possible, keep it out of direct sunlight and move it to the work area only when needed.

Our technical sales manager, Lars, shares his 7 best fiber blowing tips 💡

- 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐠𝐨 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭! You must have a chance to react if there is a sudden stop.
- 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐡 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝! Excessive force can cause the cable to bend in multiple places along its length. Bends create additional unwanted friction. Use air pressure, speed and push force carefully to achieve the best installation.
- 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐮𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. A wet or dirty duct increases friction. Friction + fiber blowing = Poor results
- 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐭𝐢𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞. This helps the cable pass offset duct connectors much easier and prevents air from entering the cable sheath, which can cause sheath failures (eg. “Sheath explosions”).
- 𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐚 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠. This prevents dirt and water from entering the machine and the duct.
- 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐞! Being aware of bends and obstacles helps you anticipate when to proceed more carefully.
- 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐥𝐲! If a sudden stop or friction occurs, the cable must be able to slip on the drive wheels or chains.

Automation is slowly changing fiber installation but not in the way people often expect.

Automation is not replacing field crews, it supports them. The biggest improvements so far are coming from:
• Better real-time monitoring during installation
• More consistent control of airflow and pressure
• Improved documentation of installation parameters
• Data-driven troubleshooting in the field

The goal is to reduce uncertainty during installation, because uncertainty is what creates delays in filed operations. Interested to hear how automation can develop your workflows? Let us talk

Fast installation speeds look impressive, but speed without proper duct conditions can quickly become expensive 🤑 When ducts contain debris, moisture, sharp transitions or inconsistent connectors, increasing cable speed may lead to:

- Higher friction and cable stress
- Sudden stops and damage
- Reduced installation quality

The result? More troubleshooting, rework and downtime 🙅‍♂️

Clean ducts, controlled airflow and proper inspection often matter more than pushing maximum installation speed. What is the most common duct issue you encounter in the field?

With a lot of fiber deployment projects in the scope, InnoPro, like many contractors, was heavily pressured to finish their projects as soon as possible. Mr. Mohamed Rabea, the General Manager of InnoPro purchased a Fremco DuctRod RAPID from Bright Wires Technology to help speed up the projects.

The DuctRod RAPID is designed specifically to push a duct rod into an underground duct. InnoPro, Bright Wires Technology and Fremco gathered with the efficient DuctRod RAPID for a field try.
The glass fiber rod was pushed some hundred meters by the DuctRod RAPID. Then the fiber cable was taped to the rod and the DuctRod RAPID pulled back the fiber cable. This saved a lot of manhours, bringing a higher success rate and decreased the risk of work-related injuries.

Mohamed Rabea elaborates: “Now we can push the glass fiber rod and pull back the cable in a fraction of the time consumed by manual labor. This helps us getting our jobs done daily, making the network owner very happy.”
