Happy Global Wind Day. Wind energy continues to be a cornerstone of the global energy transition and a key element in ensuring a reliable power supply and strengthening Europe’s energy sovereignty.

At NKT, we support the development of both onshore and offshore wind by delivering high-voltage power cable infrastructure that connects renewable energy to the grid.

Our offshore journey began in Denmark, where we installed the cable for the world’s first offshore wind farm in 1991. Since then, we have continued to advance cable technology, from early offshore developments to delivering the world’s first 525 kV XLPE offshore cable systems for the IJmuiden Ver and Nederwiek offshore wind zones in the Netherlands.

At the same time, our onshore solutions enable the expansion and reinforcement of the grid, ensuring that growing volumes of renewable energy can be transmitted efficiently and reliably.

Congratulations to the participants of the Advance Programme 2025–26 on completing their leadership development journey.

For Stamena Zekic, offshore cable installation starts long before a vessel reaches the seabed.

As a Junior Geotechnical Engineer at NKT, Stamena works with burial assessment, ground modelling and geotechnical analysis to help support safe and efficient offshore cable installation. Her role connects engineering data with real offshore operations, helping teams make informed decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

“One of the things I enjoy most is that no two projects are the same. Every project brings new conditions, challenges and opportunities to learn,” she says.

Stamena has also had the opportunity to work onboard NKT Victoria, gaining first-hand experience of offshore operations and seeing how engineering assumptions translate into real-world ex*****on.

By working closely with marine engineers, cable engineers and offshore teams, colleagues like Stamena help strengthen the collaboration and technical expertise behind complex offshore cable projects.

How do we create a better working environment on the construction site – while also increasing efficiency?

During the renovation of Örjansskolan in Skelleftehamn, Install, together with Ahlsell Sverige AB, chose NKT solutions with a focus on ergonomics and smart logistics. With Qaddy® and easy-strip cables, the installers were able to work both faster and with less physical strain.

What is it like to take your career to the other side of the world?

For Andreas Tyrberg, relocating from Karlskrona, Sweden to Chennai, India has been an opportunity to strengthen collaboration, experience a new culture and grow both professionally and personally.

Working closely with colleagues in Chennai has provided valuable new perspectives and strengthened connections across teams and sites. At the same time, the experience has offered Andreas and his family the chance to explore a vibrant new environment and embrace everyday life in a different part of the world (and learn how to play the wonderful game of cricket).

“At work, you gain a much deeper understanding of how colleagues and teams operate. Personally, it also broadens your perspective and challenges you to adapt and grow,” Andreas says.

We were pleased to participate in the Danish state visit to Australia, showcasing how our power cable technology is essential to energy resilience and the . Discussions highlighted the significant potential for and the urgent need to reinforce and expand the Australian power grid to integrate large‑scale renewables.

“Australia has significant potential to accelerate its green transition by scaling offshore wind and large‑scale renewable generation. To unlock this potential, early investment in transmission is essential, together with the development of future interconnections that can strengthen the Australian grid and link systems across the region. The power grid will be key to ensuring the reliable and efficient flow of green energy. NKT is ready to support with proven high‑voltage cable solutions and by helping to build the specialised workforce needed,” says Jens Due Olsen, Chair of the Board of NKT, who participated in the state visit.

That’s a wrap on another great Advance Programme module. In this leadership development programme we bring together talent to explore topics pertaining to strategy, collaboration and leadership.

This time the session was hosted at our high-voltage site in Cologne, the two days were used to discuss leadership responsibilities for the future.
