This week I attended the Pratt and Whitney Canada PW100 customer days (November 28th-29th) in Jakarta, Indonesia.
With more than 100 attendees to the conference this was quite an overwhelming experience.
Since DETA is an ECTM service provider and not a customer or operator, I would like to thank all of the P&WC personnel in charge of this event for the East Asia region for allowing DETA to be a part of the conference. I spoke a with a few of the persons in charge. These were Mr. Andy Loo, General Manager, Regional Turboprop at P&WC, Singapore, Chandra Gunawan, FSR for P&WC Indonesia, Ivan Le, FSR for P&WC Malaysia and, last but not least, Budi Susilo FSR for P&WC Indonesia and Timor Leste. Thank you all for making me feel welcome on your home turf.
Although we at DETA have no direct contact with the engines, it is important for us to know what is going on with new developments for the and also which experiences, be good or bad, the operators are currently having.
Attending these conferences also gives us a chance to create new relations in the industry and, more importantly, strengthen relations to our existing customers.
I was very happy to meet with representatives from our customer Aero Nusantara Indonesia (ANI). Especially their Powerplant Engineering Manager, Mr. Åne Jørgensen with whom I spoke a lot during the two days of the conference.
A number of employees from the Powerplant Engineering department also attended the conference, and I was happy to have a chance to talk about how they use our service and which expectations they have for it.
Also Åne told me a lot about the country that would be difficult to learn from just reading an encyclopedia or travel literature. When scheduling the trip I had decided to make this stay strictly business, in order to focus on work, so I didn't have time to travel around in the area. If I get the chance to attend a conference in the region again sometime, I might also schedule a few days off to really experience the area firsthand.
This was my first visit to Indonesia, and I can say with certainty that I saw only kind and friendly faces during my entire stay.
On many levels this was a positive experience, both personally and professionally.
Best Regards, Mads Kristian Jensen
