How can we create a more honest environmental accounting?
Remember to do a CCECC - Cradle to Cradle Energy Conceptual Calculations đ«
We do it by using energy as the common unit of measurement â the foundation of the CCECC approach.
In many analyses, economics dominates â costs, prices, and financial results often take center stage.
CCECC takes a different path: it uses energy as the fundamental metric for environmental impact.
By converting all stages â raw materials, production, transport, and operation â into total energy consumption (joules/watts), we can create a direct and comparable measure of a productâs true environmental footprint â whether that product is a prompt for ChatGPT or a set of winter tires.
Some components â for example, sulfur in rubber manufacturing â are difficult to assess directly in environmental terms. CCECC translates such material processes into energy inputs across the productâs lifetime, naturally integrating them into the total environmental account.
This makes CCECC applicable across industries, offering a cleaner and more transparent picture of environmental impact â which can later be combined with economic data if needed.
