What do you learn from a field trial that never makes it into the final report?

The answer is often: quite a lot.
That's why every season we welcome clients to visit their field trials across the North Zone.

Seeing crop development, treatment differences, field conditions, and trial setups firsthand often sparks discussions that go far beyond the data itself.

During a field tour, you can:
✅ Walk through active trials with our trial specialists
✅ Discuss observations directly in the field
✅ Review trial setups and local growing conditions
✅ Explore Northern Zone farming practices, challenges, and opportunities
✅ Meet the people working behind your projects

For many, these visits provide valuable context for product positioning, future trial planning, and regulatory strategy.

Our teams are currently anticipating this season's visits, and we look forward to welcoming you to the field once again.

Interested in arranging a visit? Contact our Sales manager, Alex Schwartz at [email protected] and we’ll get in touch.

Today is World Plant Health Day 🌱 It's a reminder that plant health is not only an agricultural issue, it is closely linked to food security, sustainability, biodiversity and resilient food production.

In our part of the world, Scandinavia and the Baltic region, we see how growers operate under unique climatic conditions and increasing regulatory complexity.

At the same time, pests, diseases and changing weather patterns continue to challenge stable crop production. Plant pests and diseases destroy up to 40% of global food crops every year.

The solutions are available, but bringing new crop protection solutions to the market requires years of science, field trials and regulatory work.
This is what drives the people working across the crop protection industry, from research and development to field trials, regulatory work and farming.

At Agrolab, we are proud to contribute through field trials and regulatory support across the Nordic and Baltic region, helping ensure that effective and well-documented solutions can reach the growers who need them.

To our customers and partners working on the next generation of crop protection solutions: your work matters far beyond the bottom line. The science you are doing today is what growers will rely on tomorrow.

We wish everyone a happy International Day of Plant Health!

Winter seminars influence spring decisions ❄️🌱
When snow still covers Latvian fields, farmers prepare for the season ahead -and so do we.

We recently attended the regional farmer seminar “Gatavojamies pavasarim” (= Getting Ready For Spring) organised by Linas Agro in Kuldīga, part of their nationwide winter-spring seminar series.

The program focused on what will define the upcoming season:
• Fertilizer market developments and pricing expectations
• Updates on plant protection products and micronutrients
• Results from seed trials supporting variety selection
• Grain market outlook and global trends
• Reminders from the Latvian State PPP service, Valsts augu aizsardzības dienests, ahead of spring field work

For us, these seminars are more than networking events.
They provide direct insight into how farmers will adjust fertilization strategies based on actualities in the fertilizer market.

Understanding these dynamics is essential when planning and executing field trials. Our research does not occur independently: It is aligned with everyday farming practices, local market requirements and policy requirements.

Thank you to Linas Agro for bringing farmers and industry together ahead of the season 🌾

2026 begins with renewal of our GEP & GLP accreditations🎉✅
Following the Danish GLP accreditation in 1989 and GEP in 1996, Agrolab has since then expanded our GEP accreditations to our sites in Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania.

Our completed renewal process for continued GEP & GLP accreditation reaffirms that our trials are conducted in accordance with recognized quality standards & guidelines.

We are excited to continue supporting our clients' product development and registration with well-documented, regulatory-ready data.

Even though the frost & snow are still creating beautiful landscapes here in the North, our teams are already fully engaged in trial activities; for example our climate chambers are operating at full trial capacity while preparations for the upcoming field trial season are fully underway ❄️🌡️

We are ready and excited for the season ahead! Are you as well?

33 PFAS pesticides banned in Denmark — how to approach the news
For many companies, this means re-evaluating portfolios.
For some, it may also open opportunities:
Older products that remain approved can gain renewed relevance, if backed with fresh trial data and new tools in trial design showcasing their efficacy.

Swipe through the document below to learn more about:
🟢 The background for the bans
🟢 What this mean for manufacturers
🟢 How demo & marketing trials can help products shine again
🟢 The digital tools that strengthen their story

We are ready to support you in designing Northern Zone trials with this focus in mind.

What’s next for biologicals in the Northern Zone?
That was the big question at this year’s Plant Biologicals Network Symposium, and one our team were excited to explore new perspectives on.

During the event, we heard perspectives from:
- University researchers pushing new boundaries 🔬
- Start-ups testing bold ideas in the field 🌱
- Farmers sharing real-world challenges 🚜
- Regulators outlining what’s coming next 📄

A clear takeaway from the event was this: biologicals are moving fast, but proof-of-concept expectations are evolving just as quickly.

For companies developing biostimulants or other biosolutions, this point matters.
Events like this are so valuable, as they help us stay aligned with where the market, science, and regulation are heading.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a conversation. We enjoyed reconnecting with clients, partners, and collaborators from across the North Zone 👋

If you are curious about how the latest discussions around biologicals and regulation may impact your own pipeline, our consulting team is always happy to share our observations.

What do you believe is next for biologicals?

“From the very beginning, the team trusted me with vehicles, tasks, and responsibilities without hesitation. It made me feel like I was on the same level as the rest of the team, despite being a foreign intern.”

Meet Matthieu 👋 A French engineering student specialising in agronomy and agro-industry. Matthieu joined Agrolab Field in Denmark for a 12-week internship abroad this summer.

During his time here, Matthieu has worked on a wide range of tasks: applying plant protection products on potatoes, harvesting, soil and sample analysis, root system scanning, and even setting up new trials. Along the way, he gained first-hand experience with trial setup, monitoring, and compliance practices such as GLP and GEP.

When asked about his favourite experience, Matthieu says: “Driving the combine harvester. I had never done that before, and not only did I get to operate it, but I also learned about its maintenance and functioning. I was given full autonomy, which made the experience even more valuable.“🚜

For Matthieu, the internship has strengthened his agronomic knowledge, given him a solid foundation and a structured approach to advising farmers in the future. Observing the discipline and organisation of a research organisation has also given him valuable insight for his future career.

When asked about his dreams after his studies, Matthieu explains that he aims to combine running his family’s farm while simultaneously working in agronomic consulting.

Thank you, Matthieu, for your hard work and great energy this season. We wish you all the best in the future! 🌱
