About six years ago, we started working on what would eventually become the Anniversary 10 - a speaker created for our 10th anniversary in 2023. At the time, it represented a huge step forward for us, and it is still a speaker we are incredibly proud of.
But six years is a long time in a world of electronics, DSP, amplification and loudspeaker development. Things move. New possibilities appear. And sometimes you end up somewhere you did not quite expect when you started.
The A200 is probably the best example of that for us.
The idea was to create our most compact and versatile active speaker yet. What we did not fully expect was just how much performance we would manage to get out of something this small.
Even throughout development, when we obviously knew exactly what was inside it and what we were working towards, there were still moments where we would just look at each other. It is a very strange feeling to hear that kind of scale and power coming from a speaker with these dimensions.
And that eventually left us with a decision to make.
We were reaching the point where we needed to commit to another round of components for the A10 and continue production. But with the A200 now finished, it became increasingly difficult for us to justify doing that.
Not because there is suddenly anything wrong with the A10. There isn't. It has been a very important speaker for us, and one we are extremely proud of.
It is simply what happens when technology and development move forward.
The A200 is smaller, more flexible and sits at a lower price point. And for around the price of an A10 system, you can even combine a pair of A200s with a SUB10. That is a remarkably compact system capable of producing a seriously big sound, while giving you a huge amount of freedom to adapt it to different rooms and setups.
So we have decided not to continue production of the A10 once the remaining speakers are gone.
Instead, the A200 becomes the next step for us.
It is also one of the reasons we decided to bring production of the Solid Wood version home. The cabinets are made from solid oak here in Denmark, under our own roof, giving us much more control over the process and allowing us to build something we are extremely proud of - both technically and physically.
There is something quite satisfying about looking back at where we started six years ago and seeing where that development has taken us.
And then looking at this little speaker and hearing what comes out of it.
We are really, really proud of this one.
