Our French team is currently carrying out diagnostics on an SD pre-cleaner from 1999, which is still hard at work processing malt.

After almost three decades of operating 10 hours a day year rund, we naturally found some wear and tear:
- A few wooden components are showing their age, including the doors from the sieve boat.
- Some of the ball frames are broken internally, meaning the rubber balls can no longer provide proper separation.

It’s a great reminder that regular inspection and maintenance can make all the difference in keeping equipment performing at its best.

Meet David King - Westrup’s new Country Manager for the USA and Canada.

With more than 30 years of experience in agricultural technology and manufacturing, he brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to the team.

He just returned to the USA from a two-week stint at our headquarters in Denmark, and in two weeks, he'll be travelling the Midwest, meeting customers and partners, and getting to know Westrup through the people who work the machines and operate the factories.

In August, we travelled to Brazil with Oliver Manufacturing, and this month, we are on the move again.

We will be attending the Suk Festival I Slagelse, where young talents interested in apprenticeships in carpentry, welding, and other crafts can meet local companies, discover opportunities, and explore potential career paths.

Later this month, we are heading to the Netherlands for the annual Seed meets Technology exhibition with 3U Vision SRL. It is a great opportunity to gain industry insights, stay updated on the latest developments, and connect with colleagues from the industry.

Finally, we will join the open days at La Ferme de Sainte Marthe in France, where Christine and Oleksiy will demonstrate our machines in action.

We look forward to a month filled with inspiration, knowledge-sharing, and great opportunities to connect with future talents and industry colleagues.

Westrup & Oliver Manufacturing at the XXIII Congresso Brasileiro de Sementes!

We’re excited to be together at the XXIII Congresso Brasileiro de Sementes in Brazil!

Are you attending too? Come by booth number 14 and meet Ian to learn more about our solutions and how we can support the seed industry.

Come say hi – we look forward to meeting you!

Not all quality issues are visible at first glance.

In seed processing, a lot can look clean while still containing discolored, damaged, or contaminated seeds that can affect the final result. That's where optical sorting by 3U Vision SRL makes a real difference.

Using cameras and sensors, an optical sorter can identify and remove seeds that don't meet the desired quality standard—something that would be difficult, time-consuming, or even impossible to do consistently by eye.

For many processors, it means less waste, fewer manual interventions, and a more uniform final product. Just as importantly, it helps ensure that only the best seeds move forward in the process.

It's not about replacing the rest of the processing line—it's about adding another layer of precision when quality matters most.

The large CC 2000 has been in our factory for weeks, being manufactured, painted, and assembled. This modular machine is one of the largest available on the market, with a capacity of up to 300 t/h for pre-cleaning.

It's an amazing experience seeing such a large machine go from parts and plates to towering tall in the assembly hall, and being loaded onto large trucks, ready for our customer in Portugal.

Choosing the right seed processing equipment isn't always straightforward.
Every crop has different requirements, and it's not always obvious which machines are essential and which are simply nice additions. We hear that question a lot.

That's why we've put together a simple crop guide based on the crops our customers most often ask about. Select your main crop, and you'll see which machines our specialists consider essential—and which ones may be worth adding depending on your capacity, moisture levels, processing goals, and end use.

Our goal has never been to sell more machinery than you need. It's to help you build the right processing line for your operation.

If you'd rather talk it through, get in touch. We're always happy to help you find the solution that fits your needs.

One of the best indicators of seed quality is density. In general, heavier seeds are better developed, more vigorous, and have a higher chance of successful germination.

That's why gravity separation plays such an important role in seed processing. By separating seeds based on density, light, damaged, dead, or underdeveloped seeds that can affect the quality of the final batch are removed.

The result?
- More uniform seed lots
- Higher germination potential
- Better quality from the very beginning

Sometimes, the difference between a good seed lot and a great one simply comes down to density.

Apassul Conecta is underway, and we're happy to be here together with Oliver Manufacturing.

Stop by Booth #4 and say hello to Ian Ely!
He'll be around throughout the event, talking seed processing, sharing experiences from projects across South America, and discussing the challenges and opportunities the industry is facing.

Trade shows are always a great opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new people, and have conversations that go beyond machinery and specifications.

See you in Bento Gonçalves!
