🌊 What does water sound like?

That was the question explored during this year’s Sounding City Summer School – The Waters Within and Without.

With water as the central theme, the students investigated sound in and around Struer – from the fjord and local communities to swimming pools, infrastructure and the relationship between water and our bodies.

The summer school was brought to life by Uddannelsesinitiativet i Struer together with Aarhus University and the programme partners.

On August 13, the summer school concluded at Sound Square at Sound Hub Denmark, where the students presented and pitched their projects to invited stakeholders.

The projects showed just how many perspectives can emerge when sound, place, technology and creativity come together.

We’re happy to have been part of the summer school alongside Uddannelsesinitiativet i Struer, Aarhus University, Sound Art Lab, Struer Museum and the other partners – and to provide the setting for the final presentations.

🔊 When sound becomes something you can feel
At SANS Festival in Struer, we showcased a haptic floor and shared the story behind one of the newer experiences at Struer Museum.
Our CCO, Rie Kold Pripsø, took the stage to talk about the project, the collaboration with Struer Museum, and how haptic technology can help create more inclusive experiences for people with hearing loss.

The installation is the result of a collaboration between Struer Museum, Sound Hub Denmark and our accelerator alumni BeatBlocks. Originally developed to make live music more accessible through vibration, the technology has found a completely different setting in the museum.

Today, visitors to the Bang & Olufsen factory exhibition can not only hear the story of the dramatic bombing of the Bang & Olufsen factory in 1945 – they can physically feel vibrations from the explosion through the floor.

It is a great example of what can happen when technology, cultural storytelling and the right expertise come together – and when an innovation developed for one purpose finds entirely new applications.

🖥️ EVENT: Bring your laptop. Leave with a working GUI – and the hardware to keep building.
On September 10th, Sound Hub Denmark hosts a hands-on TouchGFX seminar for hardware developers, embedded software engineers and technical product developers.

This is a day to get practical – not just listen to presentations.
You’ll work directly with TouchGFX, STM32 developer boards and touch displays, and explore how to build your own functional GUI.
And when the day is over, you’ll take the development kit home so you can continue experimenting afterwards.

🎶 From our alumni network to the stage at SANS Festival
At this year’s SANS Festival, Sound Hub alumni Componental and CEO Rasmus Kjærbo took the stage for an electronic performance and talk.

Using Dubby, Rasmus demonstrated how new SoundTech tools can become part of the creative process – bringing technology and music together in front of a live audience.

For us, this is a great example of how SoundTech can move beyond development and become something people can experience firsthand.

🚀 What did we learn from the 2026 SoundTech Accelerator?
There is plenty to reflect on.

The quality and international reach of applicants continue to grow. AI is becoming an increasingly important part of SoundTech. More experienced second-, third- and even fourth-time founders are joining the program. And despite very different technologies, the fundamental startup questions remain surprisingly similar.

Who is the customer? Is the problem real? What are they willing to pay? And how do you actually reach the market?
One learning stands out in particular: acceleration requires intensity. Our participants continuously test assumptions, talk to customers and work through structured deliverables between the three camps.

Sometimes that even means discovering that the original hypothesis was wrong – and starting again.
That’s not failure. That’s exactly what validation is supposed to uncover.

These reflections are captured by Færchfonden together with Michael Rohde Böwadt, CEO of SoundInvest, in seven takeaways from this year’s program.

🖥️TouchGFX Hands-on Seminar: How much can you really do with a USD 1 MCU?

Quite a lot, it turns out.

On September 10th, we invite hardware developers, embedded software engineers and technical product developers to Sound Hub Denmark for a hands-on seminar on TouchGFX.

Together with Arrow Electronics, STMicroelectronics and Knitter-Switch, we’ll explore how graphical user interfaces are shaping the next generation of products – from audio equipment and instruments to smart, connected devices.

This is not just a presentation. You’ll work hands-on with STM32 developer boards, explore touch displays, design interfaces in TouchGFX and build your own functional GUI.

And when the day is over, you’ll take your own development kit home – including a 3.5” touch display and STM32 developer board – so you can continue experimenting.
