Dominica's 10 MW geothermal power plant achieved full production in April 2026, an accomplishment decades in the making. A single clean energy source now covers approximately 50% of the island's electricity demand. Dominica is on track for 60% renewable energy pe*******on in 2026.

Fuel consumption is projected to drop by at least 40% in 2026, equaing roughly 2 million imperial gallons of diesel.

Steam seen at Roseau Valley Geothermal Plant

The Dominica Geothermal Development Company (DGDC) wishes to confirm that the Roseau Valley Geothermal Plant is fully functional and is not experiencing any burst pipes or other mechanical issues. Fluid (including steam) discharge which is observed from the lower part of the Geothermal facility (the Separation Area) is part of normal plant operations during periods of low electricity generation.

The Dominica Geothermal Development Company Ltd. (DGDC) informs the public that underground fibre optic cable installation works will be carried out from Friday, 13th March 2026, to Monday, 16th March 2026. The project route will extend from Trafalgar, along the Louisville/Copthall Road, onto the Bath Estate Link Road, through Federation Drive and Rawles Lane, and along the E.O. Leblanc Highway, terminating at DOMLEC in Fond Cole.

During this period, all motorists are kindly advised to exercise caution and pay close attention to the Traffic Management Signs placed along the route.

The testing activities at the Geothermal Power Plant continue. System warm-up is in progress and is expected to continue until the afternoon of Monday, March 16. There is no cause for alarm. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

ROAD REHABILITATION WORKS- IN LAUDAT

THE DOMINICA GEOTHERMAL DEVELOPMENT COMPANY LIMITED (DGDC LTD.) WISHES TO INFORM RESIDENTS OF LAUDAT AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAT ROAD REHABILITATION WORKS WILL TAKE PLACE ALONG THE TITOU GORGE ROAD FROM 7:00 AM ON MONDAY, JANUARY 12, 2026, TO 4:00 PM ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 13, 2026.

THE ROAD WILL BE CLOSED TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC DURING THIS PERIOD. A SHUTTLE SERVICE WILL BE PROVIDED FOR THOSE WISHING TO ACCESS THE TITOU GORGE AREA.

ROAD USERS ARE ADVISED TO EXERCISE CAUTION AND OBSERVE WARNING SIGNS IN THE CAFÉ MON PLEZI AND DOMLEC BALANCING TANK AREAS.
