The final stage of the construction of the tank is testing for tightness, strength and stability. They must be carried out after completion of all installation and welding works, quality control of all elements of its structure, including welded joints, and their acceptance by technical supervision.

2 methods are used:

- Hydraulic testing of tanks (filling with water to the design level) in order to check the tightness of joints and the strength of the structure as a whole;
- Tests with internal overpressure and relative vacuum to control the tightness of the fixed roof and additional control of the stability of the hull.

Tank tests are carried out by the installation organization with the participation of representatives of technical supervision and designer supervision. After the end of the tests, an act is drawn up for testing the tanks of the established form between the installers and the customer on the completion of the installation of metal structures and the acceptance of the tank for the performance of corrosion protection of the tank, installation of equipment and other works.

The plate-by-plate method of storage tanks construction . It implies that the shell plate and the bottom sheets are prepared at the factory site, they are rolled to the radius, stipulated by the design project. Then the sheet elements are packed in a special way to be prepared for transportation. Shell and bottom assembly (welding) is carried out on the construction site.

The main factor determining the quality of the tank metal structures, produced by this method, is strict provision of their shape (referred to the design project), and the set of technological decisions, preventing residual distortion of the metal frameworks in the course of edging and transportation.

Coiling method is one of the two industrial approaches for manufacturing the metal structures of a storage tank.

It implies that tank shell, bottom and roof are brought to the construction site in the form of coiled strip panels, meant for welding.

The advantages of this method are to be seen in making the tank installation period 3-4 times shorter as a result of cutting down the volume of welding procedures in the building area by about 80 % at the average and providing high quality of welding joints due to the use of two-side automatic welding.

Panels are automatically welded on a special coiling machine. It consists of welding and assembly sites – top and bottom level, edging tumbler and rolling (coiling) device.

Before welding the strip panels a special frame is prepared, on which the sheets will be coiled. The diameter of the frame should not be less than 2.6 m, and its length should be equal to the height of the storage tank shell.

Shaft staircase is often used as a technological frame for coiling the shell. This is usually applied for tanks not exceeding 2000 m³ of loading capacity. In this case metal economy is provided.

Hot water storage tanks are reservoirs for storing water of up to 95°С. Also known as Hot water buffer tanks or Accumulator tanks.

This equipmqnt is installed in the hot water supply system between the hot water producing units and its consumers. The necessary amount of hot water stored in hot water storage tanks helps level the hot water flowing, thus providing efficient work of the heating supply system.

Large hot water tank is, in effect, a vertical steel tank with some additional structural components (like rims protecting from failure). Hot water accumulator tanks are classified as a separate group of industrial constructions according to Regulations for safe maintenance of heating containers.

The sequence of industrial hot water storage tanks construction procedures consists of three stages: ordering the design, purchasing metal structures, ordering their installation.
