Greetings from Norway! 🇳🇴

MindChip was selected among 300+ start-ups as one of the TOP 12 teams to meet with leading Norwegian maritime companies and investors.
The event was small in scale, but highly focused. Compared to typical start-up events, there was much more time for meaningful discussions, direct feedback, and building real connections.

We received very valuable feedback, gathered new ideas, and made many promising contacts. A big thank you to the organizers and to everyone we had the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with!

Great to be back at Singapore Maritime Week with the and teams.

It is a busy week with a strong program, but we still have a few open meeting slots. If autonomous vessels, maritime autonomy, or related collaboration opportunities are of interest, let’s connect and meet in Singapore.

Last week, TalTech - Tallinna Tehnikaülikool hosted the international EstMil.Tech conference, focusing on the role of AI in the modern battlefield.

As part of the conference, the EstMil.Tech Pitch Battle brought together 6 strong dual-use and defence-oriented startups, showcasing technologies shaping the future of defence innovation.

🏆 Winner: MindChip

MindChip is developing a self-adaptive, AI-powered “captain” for autonomous vessel control, enabling safer and smarter maritime operations across defence and dual-use applications. We are proud and honoured that the jury selected MindChip as the winner among such a strong lineup.

Pitching teams at a glance:
🎯 GaltTec – Lightweight fuel-cell power sources enabling drones to fly up to 5× longer; NATO DIANA-validated
🎯 Metamobilis OÜ – Dynamic live-feedback shooting training system, speeding up training by up to 5×
🎯 Next Gen Digital State Research Group (TalTech) – AI-enabled resilience modelling for national continuity and crisis preparedness
🎯 ThinkScan – Autonomous Edge AI turning “dark” edge data into real-time intelligence with major cost and power savings
🎯 Thistle OÜ – Thistle Shield, a man-portable autonomous turret for FPV-drone defence

A big thank you to all pitching teams, judges, organisers, and partners for pushing defence innovation forward. 🚀

We are currently developing an autonomous docking solution for the MC4000 autonomous cleaning vessel at the BLRT Grupp In collaboration with LightCode Photonics, we are integrating next-generation sensors that combine LiDAR and camera technology into a single, solid-state unit with no moving parts.
The video below demonstrates how the vessel perceives its surroundings. Such 3D environmental mapping is crucial, as the vessel must occasionally navigate in port areas without GPS coverage. In addition to LiDAR, we are also using millimetre-wave radars to ensure highly accurate and reliable situational awareness.

MindChip and Larsen Boat Yard are jointly developing a new generation dual-use maritime drone capable of moving fully passively, detecting and tracking surrounding objects, and locking onto targets. 🚤⚓ The project is still in progress but advancing rapidly.

On 24–25 September, we will be participating in the Defence Expo, part of Estonia Defence Week. It’s an excellent opportunity to explore new collaborations and share our ongoing developments.
See you at the Expo!

Yesterday, MindChip had the valuable opportunity to share our developments and projects with Kongsberg Gruppen – a company globally recognized for its innovative and reliable solutions in the maritime, energy, defense, and aerospace industries.
These kinds of dialogues highlight how rapidly the field of autonomous vessels is evolving, and how collaboration with strong partners makes it possible to achieve greater goals.

Many thanks to Tom Gulbrandsen, Anne Lande, Karl Kristian, Ryte Venckuviene, Piia Mathisen, Merike Kaesveld and everyone else for making this meeting possible.
