Ferenz Josef Sustek Sanchez successfully defended his PhD thesis two days ago! 🎓
His research aimed to identify mechanisms and genes involved in drought and cold stress tolerance using transcriptomic approaches, uncovering candidate genes with potential for future breeding programs.
In addition, he developed a protoplast-based platform to test in vivo editing efficiency prior to stable transformation of perennial ryegrass calli — an important step forward for functional validation and breeding applications.
As his supervisor, I am very proud of this achievement. 😊
Many thanks to Dr. Susanne Barth and Dr. Ljudmilla Timofejeva for their excellent work as opponents.
