What do Keanu Reeves, Salma Hayek and Annika Soots from Lanmer CRO have in common?

🎂 Besides all being super talented, they were all born on the same day.

This Wednesday was Annika’s birthday, making her the first of three September birthdays at Lanmer this month.

One birthday down, two more to go this September!

Happy 1st of September to everyone starting a new academic year!

Science starts with curiosity – asking questions, staying open to new ideas and continuing to learn from the people around you.

That mindset is also an important part of how we work at Lanmer Group. We want to keep learning as much as we can, which means taking part in industry events, meeting experts and seeing what others are researching, developing and discovering.

Gene Forum 2026 was a great opportunity to do exactly that.

This year, we were very happy to welcome guests from Thermo Fisher Scientific – Dr Mihovil Lusser, Senior Technical Sales Specialist for Human Predictive Genomics, and Alberto Domingo Bayarri, Global Head of Strategic Partnerships and Policy for Microarray. Lanmer was represented by Tarmo Mölder and Kent Langel.

One of the key questions running through the forum was: how do we make sure scientific knowledge actually reaches the people who can benefit from it?

We heard interim results from long-term cohort studies and discussed the practical steps needed to turn research into everyday healthcare decisions.

There were also plenty of memorable moments beyond the presentations. Estonian Voices gave a fantastic performance, three doctoral students received the Artur Lind scholarships, and it was great to see Estonian researchers Pille Hallast and Maarja JÔeloo on the Gene Forum stage, sharing work that has taken them far beyond Estonia.

💡And one practical takeaway from the microbiome session stayed with us too: if you only have time for one focused walk during the day, take it after your biggest meal. Even a short walk after eating can make a difference – including for your gut microbiome.

đŸ‡ȘđŸ‡Ș Today, Estonia celebrates 35 years since the restoration of independence.

A day like this makes us think about the things that are easy to take for granted — the freedom to build, to connect, to work with people across borders, and to choose our own path.

It also feels like a good day to be thankful for the people we get to share that journey with. So here’s a small throwback to sTARTUp Day — a photo that still makes us smile.

Happy Restoration of Independence Day, Estonia!

It’s almost the weekend, so here’s Part II: 5 more things to think about before buying new lab equipment.

A few extra questions now can save a lot of headaches later — especially when it comes to workflow, maintenance, support, and future needs.

Save it for your next equipment search, share it with your team, or tag a colleague who might find it useful.

Happy Friday!

New lab equipment on the radar? Before you sign on the dotted line, it’s worth asking the right questions.

As a laboratory equipment reseller, we help labs find solutions that truly fit their needs and not just their budget, but also their workflows, team, and future plans.

Because a “great instrument” doesn’t automatically mean it’s a “great instrument for our lab.”

Here’s Part I of our equipment procurement checklist: 5 questions worth asking yourself when thinking about buying new lab equipment.

Part II is coming soon because purchasing lab equipment is a little too big a decision to stop at just five questions.

Saving, tagging your colleagues, and sharing are all highly encouraged.

It’s happening again! August is bringing us back to Gene Forum — and this year, it’s an especially exciting one.

👌The 25th International Gene Forum takes place on 25–26 August at the Estonian National Museum, and we’re very happy to support the event once again as a sponsor.

For 25 years, Gene Forum has brought together researchers, clinicians, industry professionals and experts from around the world. For us, it’s also a great opportunity to catch up with familiar faces, meet new people, and hear what’s happening across genetics and genomics.

We’re looking forward to two days of science, conversations and fresh ideas in Tartu — and to seeing what the team at the TÜ genoomika instituut has planned for this special anniversary edition.

So, see you at Gene Forum?

It’s always great when our partners take the time to visit Estonia – not just for meetings, but to see how their solutions are used in practice, exchange ideas with local teams and better understand what our customers actually need.

This time, we welcomed Piotr Orlicki, Animal Health Key Account Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific's Life Sciences Solutions.

We started the morning at LABRIS - Riigi Laboriuuringute ja Riskihindamise Keskus, followed by a visit to EPJ - Eesti PÔllumajandusloomade JÔudluskontrolli AS.

At EPJ, these solutions support work related to milk quality, while at LABRIS they are used in monitoring animal and avian pathogens across Estonia. Visits like these are valuable because they bring the people behind the technology closer to the people using it every day.

đŸ€If you’re looking for advice, want to learn more about a specific instrument or technology, or simply want to understand which solution could make your lab work easier, let us know. We’re happy to connect you with the right people and arrange a meeting or consultation.

Over the past few weeks, we have shared moments from our team’s summer travels to Turkey, Poland and Germany. That leaves just one unshared stop to share: Sweden (for now, at least).

Kent attended the ESHG - European Society of Human Genetics Conference for the first time.

One takeaway stood out: there is still a significant gap between the amount of sequencing and bioinformatics research being produced and how much of it translates into clear clinical value.

As Kent put it: plenty of AUC, but not enough ROC.

A sharp reminder that in life sciences, more data does not automatically lead to better decisions or better outcomes.

How many CROs do you know that hold ISO certifications? 🧐😎

For Lanmer CRO, quality and reliability are not just promises. They are supported by internationally recognised management systems and independently verified processes.

We have now successfully completed our second independent certification milestone!

Certification is not simply about adding another badge to our name. It is part of building a clinical research organisation where quality, documentation, vendor oversight, regulatory delivery and continuous improvement are built into everyday operations.

For our clients and partners, this means:
‱ consistent quality
‱ clear and well-documented processes
‱ stronger traceability and oversight
‱ clearly defined responsibilities
‱ a continued commitment to improvement

As a CRO supporting biopharma and medical device innovators across the EU and selected non-EU clinical trial settings, we see quality management as a practical tool. It helps us remain flexible and responsive while providing controlled processes, documented accountability and more reliable delivery for Sponsors.

This milestone further strengthens Lanmer CRO’s position as a QMS-driven clinical trials partner.

Thank you to the Lanmer team and our partners who contributed to this achievement.
