Fire Fighting System – Main Components & Functions
A fire-fighting system is designed to detect, control, suppress, and help contain fires while protecting people, property, and critical equipment.
🔹 1. Water Tank
Stores the required firefighting water and provides a reliable water source.
🔹 2. Jockey Pump
Maintains system pressure and compensates for small pressure losses without starting the main fire pump.
🔹 3. Fire Pump
Delivers the required water flow and pressure to the firefighting network during a fire emergency.
🔹 4. Fire Pump Control Panel
Controls pump operation and provides status indication, alarms, and monitoring.
🔹 5. Fire Fighting Riser
Main vertical pipe that distributes water to sprinklers, hose reels, and hydrant systems.
🔹 6. Sprinkler System
Automatically releases water when the sprinkler operates due to sufficient heat, helping control fire at an early stage.
🔹 7. Hose Reel Cabinet
Provides a readily available hose for initial firefighting by trained/authorized personnel.
🔹 8. Fire Extinguisher
Provides portable first-response fire protection; the extinguisher type must match the applicable fire class.
🔹 9. Alarm & Detection System
Detects fire conditions and gives audible/visual warnings so occupants can respond quickly.
