- Elgammal's Successful Drive System Implementation.
Elgammal proudly announces the successful implementation of a complete drive system solution for the cooling towers (open type) of the renowned Baltimore Aircoil Company (BAC). This project highlights Elgammal's expertise in integrating advanced technologies and delivering efficient, reliable solutions tailored to our clients' needs.
The system includes water pumps configured as both working and standby, sourced from Wilo, featuring Glanded pumps with axially split housings rated at 90 kW and 110 kW, and equipped with Weg motors specifically selected with NDE insulated bearings to ensure optimal performance in Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) applications.
For this project, Elgammal selected the Danfoss VLT AQUA Drive, known for offering first-year cost savings of between 10–30% compared to traditional variable speed drive solutions. Its high lifetime availability, combined with low energy consumption and maintenance costs, ensures the lowest total cost of ownership for our clients.
The entire system with the Profibus communication protocols—encompassing six cooling tower fans, four pumps, PTC relays, standstill heaters, local control boxes (LCB) for fans and drives, and the supply and control of water separators as well as the water treatment unit—was meticulously engineered and assembled by the skilled team at Elgammal.
