في زيارة لأحد ورش صناعة السجاد في سمرقند، المدينة التي نشأت في واحة نهر زرافشان، وظلت عبر القرون محطة رئيسية على طريق الحرير. بين آثار أفراسياب وعمارة العصر التيموري، بقبابها الفيروزية وزخارفها المميزة ومدارس تحيط بساحات رحبة ، تتشكل روح سمرقند الفريدة؛ روحٌ تنعكس اليوم في ألوان السجاد ونقوشه وتفاصيله.
