Egyptalum Golden Jubilee | 50 Years of Leadership and Achievement

Egyptalum proudly celebrates its Golden Jubilee, marking 50 years of excellence, dedication, and leadership since the establishment of this landmark industrial complex in Nag Hammadi, Qena, in 1975/1976.
For five decades, Egyptalum has stood as a true pillar of Egypt’s national industry and one of the Arab world’s leading aluminium producers, with an annual production capacity exceeding 320,000 tonnes, contributing to the Egyptian economy and serving customers across global markets.
Five Decades of National Industry and Achievement
The journey began in 1969, driven by the vision of harnessing the energy generated by the High Dam to establish a strategic aluminium industry in Egypt. By the mid-1970s, production had come to life, transforming the desert of Nag Hammadi into a thriving industrial and residential community.
Strategically located close to major electricity networks, the Nile River, and the port of Safaga, the complex was developed as an integrated industrial and service community, built around its people and their contribution to Egypt’s industrial development.
Over the years, Egyptalum has undergone major modernization and technological transformation, including the transition to prebake technology, while continuously pursuing new opportunities in renewable and solar energy.
Today, Egyptalum continues to strengthen its leading role in the mining and metals industries, focusing on maximizing the added value of its products, embracing innovation, and moving toward a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.

The Prime Minister witnessed this morning:

The signing of a strategic partnership agreement with Trafigura Limited to establish new expansions at the Nag Hammadi aluminum complex, with an investment cost of up to $900 million.

The new expansions will add 300,000 tons annually, doubling production capacity to 600,000 tons per year.

The entry of one of the world's largest raw materials trading companies as a partner in the project sends a strong message of confidence in the Egyptian investment climate.
