🧠 What Are LAN Cables?
LAN (Local Area Network) cables are the wires that connect computers, routers, and other devices in homes, offices, or buildings.
They help in sending and receiving data quickly and reliably — like the roads data travels on.
🧵 Different Types of LAN Cables (Simple Version)
As technology grows, different LAN cables are made to support faster speeds and better performance. Here's a breakdown in simple words:
1. Cat5e (Category 5e)
Think of it as a basic highway for internet.
Good for home or small office use.
Can handle speeds up to 1 Gbps (Gigabit).
Works well for browsing, email, and video calls.
2. Cat6 (Category 6)
A wider, faster highway.
Less interference = more stable connections.
Great for HD video streaming and file sharing.
Can support up to 10 Gbps but only for short distances.
3. Cat6a (Category 6a)
An upgraded Cat6 with stronger shielding.
Supports full 10 Gbps over longer distances.
Best for modern offices or smart homes needing fast, stable connections.
4. Cat7 (Category 7)
Designed for heavy-duty environments.
Has extra shielding to block outside interference.
Ideal for data centers or places with a lot of electronic devices.
Supports very high speeds and reliability.
5. Cat8 (Category 😎
The latest and fastest cable type.
Supports up to 40 Gbps — like a super express data train! 🚄
Mostly used in large server rooms and high-speed networks.
Not common for home use yet.
