The printing process of Odachi restaurant in Kuwait.

produced 38 large-scale panels, the tallest exceeding two meters, in a polymer reinforced with fibreglass, wrapping walls and ceiling into a single continuous surface.

The design, conceived by to echo Hokusai’s Great Wave, was generated through reaction-diffusion logic. Our job was to print it without losing that fluidity.

The ceiling panels overlap in successive layers, building the wave form from below. The deeper challenge was elsewhere: combining the organic pattern with non-planar printing pushed inclination angles beyond 45° in critical zones. Each required individual toolpath development.

Behind the scenes of a panel we printed for ’s stand at Formnext.

Using their polymers made from 85% recycled water bottles, our team fine-tuned the printing parameters to ensure the material performed well, achieving a clean finish that highlights the potential of circular materials.

Prototype check.

In this phase, we test geometry, tolerances, and surface finish directly at scale. Curves are evaluated layer by layer—how they behave, how they flex, how they hold their form. Every adjustment needed is transferred to the robot for a final 3D print.

This translucent module is a part of a larger structure we are currently developing.

Behind the scenes: the production for the Natural History Museum’s Fixing Our Broken Planet gallery.

In just three months, LAMÁQUINA engineered and produced 1,686 modular clay components using robotic printing and 40% recycled material. The fully modular system was dry-assembled using biopolymer joints, preserving the integrity of the heritage site throughout.

The modules were created using WASP’s clay 3D printing extrusion technology, both with a robotic arm and through the WASP 40100 Production System, enabling 24/7 printing thanks to its automatic idle roller.

Installation was completed in just ten days, with zero impact on the historic structure.

From fabrication to logistics, every layer was shaped by sustainability.

Designed to perform, disappear, and respect the past.
