1️⃣ Start as a machine gun. Become a sniper.
Explore widely at the beginning: coffee chats, alumni, professors, different industries and roles. But don’t stay broad forever, clarity comes from exposure, elimination, and choosing intentionally.
2️⃣ Hustle creatively outside the classroom while maximizing IESE resources.
Go beyond the core curriculum. Take relevant tech courses, use the CDC, and create your own opportunities through conferences, projects, and targeted initiatives that build a coherent story.
3️⃣ Show, don’t just tell: build ownership projects.
Proof of ex*****on matters. Internships, prototypes, Independent Study, or zero-to-one initiatives show product sense, initiative, and ownership more strongly than words alone.
4️⃣ Build relationships long before you need them.
Approach networking with curiosity, not urgency. Strong relationships are built over time, and referrals come as a result of genuine connection, not a first ask.
