Paraguay contará con una nueva infraestructura sanitaria de referencia gracias al anteproyecto del Gran hospital de Asunción, desarrollado por IDOM.

Ubicado junto a la Costanera Sur, el proyecto ha sido concebido para fortalecer la red asistencial del país y ofrecer espacios más confortables, eficientes y humanizados para pacientes y profesionales sanitarios.

Con capacidad para 481 camas, 67 consultorios y 12 quirófanos, el hospital combina funcionalidad, sostenibilidad e integración urbana. Su diseño incorpora patios, ventilación natural, iluminación natural y materiales vinculados a la tradición constructiva paraguaya.

Un proyecto que demuestra cómo la arquitectura puede contribuir a mejorar la atención sanitaria y la calidad de vida de las personas.

Paraguay will benefit from a major new healthcare facility through the preliminary design of the Gran Hospital de Asunción, developed by IDOM.

Located next to the Costanera Sur waterfront, the project has been conceived to strengthen the country's healthcare network while providing more comfortable, efficient and patient-centred environments for patients and healthcare professionals.

With capacity for 481 beds, 67 consultation rooms and 12 operating theatres, the hospital combines functionality, sustainability and urban integration. Its design incorporates courtyards, natural ventilation, daylight and materials rooted in Paraguay's construction traditions.

Los riesgos asociados al cambio climático afectan a territorios completos y requieren respuestas coordinadas entre municipios. Con esta visión, el Gobierno Regional de O’Higgins (Chile) impulsó una iniciativa pionera para financiar la elaboración de 29 Planes de Acción Comunal de Cambio Climático (PACCC).

En este marco, IDOM fue seleccionada para desarrollar los PACCC de las 16 comunas de la Provincia de Cachapoal, contribuyendo a fortalecer la resiliencia climática del territorio.

El proyecto combina:

🔹Diagnósticos de vulnerabilidad y riesgo climático para cada comuna

🔹Inventarios de emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) que identifican las principales fuentes de emisiones a nivel local

🔹Procesos participativos con administraciones, actores locales y comunidades

🔹Definición de medidas de adaptación y mitigación adaptadas a las prioridades de cada municipio

🔹Identificación de oportunidades de financiación para convertir los planes en acciones concretas

Más allá de los 16 planes desarrollados, esta iniciativa representa una nueva forma de abordar la planificación climática local: una metodología común que favorece la coordinación territorial, genera sinergias entre municipios y contribuye a construir respuestas más eficaces frente a desafíos climáticos compartidos.

The risks associated with climate change affect entire regions and require municipalities to respond in a coordinated manner. Keeping this in mind, the O’Higgins Regional Government of Chile launched a pioneering initiative to fund the development of 29 Community Climate Change Action Plans (PACCCs).

IDOM was selected to develop the PACCCs for the 16 municipalities in the Province of Cachapoal, thereby strengthening the region’s climate resilience.

The project combines:

🔹Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories that identify the main sources of emissions at the local level

The pool and outdoor areas of the Juan Carlos Beiro Sports Center in Langreo, designed by our colleague Javier Perez Uribarri, are featured in the opening minutes of Los creyentes, the new Netflix film starring José Coronado.

Directed by Roger Gual and filmed across Asturias, Madrid and Berlin, the movie turns this sports facility into one of the locations that help shape its visual setting.

The Juan Carlos Beiro Sports Center was conceived as a project aimed at contributing to the regeneration of Asturias' former mining regions. Its distinctive undulating green roofs, integrated into the surrounding landscape, form part of an architectural concept designed to create a new meeting place for the city.

The Juan Carlos Beiro Sports Center is one of IDOM's most iconic and acclaimed projects in Asturias. In 2008, it received both the Asturias College of Architects Award and the ARQAno Award, granted jointly by the Colleges of Architects of Northwest Spain. In 2009, it was shortlisted for the RIBA European Award, selected for the 10th Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennial, and nominated for the Spanish National Architecture Award.

Dirigida por Roger Gual y rodada en diferentes localizaciones de Asturias, Madrid y Berlín, la película convierte este equipamiento deportivo en uno de los escenarios que ayudan a construir la atmósfera visual de la historia.

El Centro deportivo Juan Carlos Beiro nació como una propuesta para contribuir a la regeneración de las cuencas mineras asturianas. Sus características cubiertas verdes onduladas, integradas en el paisaje, forman parte de una arquitectura concebida para convertirse en un nuevo espacio de encuentro para la ciudad.

El Centro deportivo Juan Carlos Beiro es uno de los proyectos más reconocibles y reconocidos de IDOM en Asturias. How can we ensure that more than 200 different systems operate as a single airport?

IDOM has expanded its partnership with Port Polska to include new services related to the Navigation Aids (NAVAIDs) for the future airport to be developed between Warsaw and Łódź.

Historical archives are far more than repositories of documents. They are the places where a society preserves its collective memory, safeguards its heritage, and keeps the history of entire generations alive. Designing the spaces that protect that memory presents a unique architectural challenge: combining the most demanding conservation requirements with buildings that are open, accessible, and connected to the city.

This was the challenge behind the new Hautes-Pyrénées Departmental Archives, whose main phase has just been completed in Tarbes, France.

Designed by IDOM for the Département des Hautes-Pyrénées, under the coordination of Iñaki Garai Zabala and Inés Lopez Taberna, the project transforms the former École Normale des Filles into a new Maison de l'Histoire, preserving the most representative features of the historic building while incorporating a contemporary extension designed to house the archival repositories, with demanding structural and environmental requirements.

Beyond its archival function, the project creates a new cultural facility for the city, with research, exhibition, meeting and outreach spaces, as well as new public areas that strengthen urban connectivity and civic activity.

The development will continue with a second phase aimed at completing the external spaces and the urban integration of the complex.

A project that demonstrates how architecture can preserve the past while creating new opportunities for the future of the city.

Hemos participado en el diseño del National Emergency Treatment Center (NETC), el National Food and Drug Quality Control Laboratory (NFDQCL) y la Biomedical Engineering Unit (BEU), tres proyectos concebidos para mejorar la atención sanitaria, reforzar la respuesta ante emergencias y garantizar la seguridad de medicamentos y alimentos.

Three new healthcare facilities are strengthening The Gambia’s healthcare system.

We participated in designing the National Emergency Treatment Center (NETC), the National Food and Drug Quality Control Laboratory (NFDQCL), and the Biomedical Engineering Unit (BEU). These projects are designed to improve healthcare, strengthen emergency response, and ensure the safety of medicines and food.

These projects will provide greater capacity to care for critically ill patients, stricter quality control over healthcare products and food, and greater technological autonomy for the country’s hospitals.

These facilities have a direct impact on people’s lives. 🌍🏥
