Another challenging pool renovation successfully completed by the QCM Pools Team.
✅The Challenge
This large 12m x 6m x 2m pool, built around 20 years ago in the Catral area, was in very poor condition. During the renovation process, we encountered several major issues:
• The majority of the tiles became loose after acid washing and jet cleaning.
• Significant cracks in the base floor.
• Water ingress caused by ground pressure beneath the pool.
• Deteriorating weather conditions, including high winds and
periods of rain.
✅Our Solution:
To permanently resolve the water ingress, we drilled multiple pressure-relief holes in both the base floor and walls to release trapped groundwater. Once the excess pressure was relieved, we sealed all cracks and relief points using specialist plugs filled with rapid-setting cement.
To reinforce the structure, we installed a brand-new reinforced concrete base floor, adding strength and long-term stability to the original damaged foundation. After the new concrete had fully cured:
• We installed high-reliability waterproof geotextile elastic multilayer membranes
• Applied a secondary layer of Sika waterproofing mortar for maximum protection
Once the waterproofing system had dried completely, the pool was fully retiled. Decorative dolphin tiles were carefully positioned in the centre of the pool floor, and the entire surface was professionally regrouted to achieve a flawless finish.
✅The Result:
The end result? Extremely happy customers and a beautifully restored pool ready to be enjoyed for many years to come.
Despite the many challenges we faced, our team thoroughly enjoyed delivering this large-scale project with the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
