Fostering Renewable energy technologies and energy Efficiency knowledge towards near Zero Energy Buildings of engineers and professionals in Western Balkan Countries – ReZEB

The Project is cooperation between University of Castilla-La Mancha-UCLM (Coordinator, Spain), University eCampus-UEC (Italy), Neapolis University Pafos-NUP (Cyprus), four Universities in Western Balkan Countries: European University of Tirana-UET and Polis University from Albania-U_POLIS, Universum College-UC and International Business College Mitrovica-IBC-M from Kosovo, and one VET institute, the Professional College of Tirana-KPT also, from Albania. In general, energy performance of buildings in Western Balkan Countries is lower than the required EU standards and energy production is based on fossil fuels, thus greatly contributing to air pollution. However, they have much-untapped potential for Renewable Energy use which could assure a more secure and cost-competitive national energy supply system in line with EU energy and climate vision. Tackling this burning issue requires a new type of professionals with stronger background on clean technologies and energy efficiency for achieving near zero energy buildings. Therefore, the current content of modules and teaching methods used in partner Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) must undergo into a deep modernisation process with inputs from EU Universities and in collaboration with experts in the broad field of Engineering. Hence, the project aims at the modernisation of curricula on the application of efficient energy systems in buildings, which includes enhancing existing and application of new learning and teaching tools, methodologies and pedagogical approaches. At least 25 modules will go through modernization of which at least 5 new modules created in the topic of Renewable Energy Technologies and Management and Energy Efficiency in Buildings in all 5 HEIs. Additionally, cooperation with local companies and authorities will be supported through encouraging internships of students and joint industrial and research projects. Partners included in this project: UCLM, UEC, NUP, UET, POLIS University, KPT, IBC-M, UC.

The Erasmus+ project reZEB comes to a successful close with concrete results, bridging academia, industry, and institutions to bring European expertise and technology on energy efficiency and Nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (nZEB) directly into higher education.

From curricula to laboratories, and from students to industry partnerships—reZEB leaves behind a legacy of knowledge, skills, and capacities that will continue to drive impact well into the future.

Wrapping up 3 years of innovation and collaboration! 🇪🇺🏗️

The 8th Consortium and Concluding Meeting of the reZEB Project took place on 24–25 September in Tirana, Albania, hosted by the European University of Tirana (UET).

Over two days, project partners, WP leaders, and key stakeholders gathered to reflect on the major achievements across the 3-year journey:
✅ Modernised educational modules, laboratories, and updated teaching materials.
✅ Stronger industry-academia collaboration through internships and lifelong-learning activities for sector professionals.
✅ Key project management, dissemination, and long-term sustainability plans.

We were also honored by a special address from Mr. Dimitrios Moschos, Erasmus+ CBHE Project Officer, who commended the consortium for their commitment and impactful outcomes.

As the reZEB project approaches its final milestone, we remain dedicated to ensuring the long-term impact and sustainability of our results beyond the project lifecycle. Thank you to all our partners for an incredible journey! 🤝🌱

On September 24, 2026, we celebrated the successful conclusion of the reZEB Final Conference at the European University of Tirana (UET). 🎓🏛️

Over the course of the morning, we brought together representatives from academia, industry, public authorities, and key stakeholders to celebrate the project's achievements. 🤝

Highlights included:

✅ Project Impact: A comprehensive review of the main results and long-term impact of the Erasmus+ reZEB project.

✅ Policy & Transition: Insightful discussions on energy efficiency, climate-friendly cooling, national regulations, and the future skills needed for the energy system.

✅ Academic Innovation: Showcasing modernised curricula, upgraded laboratories, new teaching modules in Albania and Kosovo, and direct feedback from participating students.

While the project has officially concluded, its legacy will continue to drive sustainable construction, renewable energy technologies (RETs), and energy efficiency (EE) across the Western Balkans! 🌱⚡

✨IBCM Promotes REZEB Project at Erasmus+ CBHE Project Fair 2025 at IBCM ✨

The Public International Business College Mitrovica (IBCM), in cooperation with the Kosovo Erasmus+ Office, hosted the Erasmus+ CBHE Project Fair 2025, bringing together institutions, students, and project partners to celebrate the impact of Erasmus+ initiatives in higher education.

During the fair, participants enjoyed creative video presentations—including ErasmusDays and ErasmusDaysChallenge teasers—presented by Mrs. Mirjana Krsmanovic and Mrs. Natasa Saveljic Sulkic, showcasing IBCM’s active efforts in promoting global opportunities.

📌 IBCM was proud to present and promote the REZEB project, sharing its goals, achievements, and future impact with visitors. The fair provided a great opportunity to connect with partners, exchange experiences, and highlight the role of REZEB within the Erasmus+ framework.
