At Bioflytech, we are participating, alongside 34 leading organisations from 14 countries, in , an ambitious European R&D project aimed at diversifying and making European more sustainable 🐛🐟🔬

● Our company is playing a key role in the technical development of the project. We are leading the rearing of black soldier fly larvae to produce insect biomass as a circular and sustainable protein ingredient for aquaculture feed.

● The aim is to reduce the current reliance on monocultures and products such as soya, fishmeal and fish oil.

● Our functional ingredients will be evaluated in feeding trials with various species — Atlantic salmon, sea bass, gilthead seabream and rabbitfish — to demonstrate their benefits in terms of growth, health, immunity and resilience, even under thermal stress conditions.

● Furthermore, the frass generated during rearing will be used as a substrate for microalgae cultivation, closing the cycle of an insect-algae biorefinery.

● Funded by the Horizon Europe programme, DIVERSIFY4Future is endorsed by the FAO and aligned with the European Green Deal and the Farm-to-Fork Strategy.

The 15th Conference of the European Chitin Society ( ) proved to be an extremely productive event, where we shared a platform and expertise with experts, researchers and other international companies in the field of chitin and chitosan science, who are driving innovation in sectors such as agriculture, biomedicine and biotechnology, amongst others.

The conference, regarded as the leading scientific, technological and business forum in Europe in this field, was attended at Universidad de Murcia by our production manager, Agustin Lozano. His aim was to identify new applications to incorporate into our products derived from black soldier fly larvae, which have an exoskeleton rich in chitin, and which could open up numerous opportunities for us to continue innovating and growing in this field.

Tremendamente productiva la 15th Conference of the European Chitin Society ( ), donde hemos compartido espacio y expertise con expertos, investigadores y otras empresas internacionales en el campo de la ciencia de la quitina y el quitosano, que están impulsando la innovación en sectores como la agricultura, la biomedicina y la biotecnología, entre otros.

Al congreso, considerado como el principal foro científico-tecnológico y empresarial en Europa en la materia, asistió en la Universidad de Murcia nuestro director de producción, Agustin Lozano . Today we have a busy day ahead of us in Seville, where we are participating in the 16th Forum of the National Association of Iberian Pig Veterinarians ( ). This is a leading event for analysing trends and opportunities in the sector and sharing the benefits of our high-protein meals with veterinarians, nutritionists and other professionals.
