As cities look for new ways to address housing demand, modular microhomes are emerging as a flexible solution for compact, adaptable living. One example is a modular housing concept developed by in the Netherlands. Designed to respond to housing shortages and the rise of single-person households, these prefabricated homes can start as small as 12 m² modules and expand over time into fully equipped homes beginning at 40 m², allowing residents to adapt their living space as needs change.

Inside, Garnica Efficiency Poplar panels are used across walls, ceilings, floors, and built-in furniture, supporting efficient off-site construction while creating a warm, cohesive interior.

From June 2–4 in Nantes, France, Garnica will be attending one of the wood industry’s most important events and our largest trade fair of the year, Carrefour International du Bois .

On Earth Day, it’s worth remembering that sustainability is not a single initiative. It’s a continuous commitment.

At the Salle du CREPS sports center in Bordeaux, France, acoustic control was a critical part of the design. Large, multi-use athletic spaces require careful material selection to manage ambient noise and create an environment that supports both training and competition.

Working with TWO Architectes, the project team selected Garnica’s Efficiency Poplar panels to line the interior walls, helping to reduce noise levels while maintaining structural consistency across the space.

Using a combination of smooth and perforated oversized panels, the design achieved effective acoustic performance while allowing for efficient installation and long, continuous surfaces from floor to ceiling.

The result is a space that supports focus, clarity and performance, demonstrating how material choice can directly impact how a building is experienced.
