🌬️ “Across Europe, wind ambitions are growing, but ambitions alone are not enough. What is needed now is a stronger alignment between targets, policies and investment conditions: from faster permitting to the deployment of more powerful turbines and a framework that can truly support delivery.”

🗣️ Samy Beltaief, International Relations at ERG, shared these reflections from WindEurope 2026, the annual event bringing together the European and global wind industry.

⚡ During the conference, strong attention was given to the gap between increasingly ambitious renewable targets and the policy, regulatory and investment conditions needed to achieve them. Accelerating wind deployment means not only setting objectives, but creating the right framework to deliver them in practice.

🔋 Faster permitting, continued investment in wind energy and the renewal of ageing assets through newer and more powerful turbines were among the key priorities highlighted during the event.

🤝 WindEurope was also an opportunity to strengthen dialogue with companies, developers and operators working together to support the policy recommendations needed to achieve Europe’s energy goals.

⚡ “Durante WindEurope è emerso con chiarezza che la transizione energetica non si gioca più solo sulla nuova capacità da installare, ma sempre di più sulla capacità del sistema di trasferire i benefici delle rinnovabili a cittadini e imprese, attraverso elettrificazione, flessibilità, reti e un quadro fiscale coerente”.

🗣️ Luca Bragoli, Chief Regulatory & Public Affairs Officer di ERG, ha commentato così alcuni dei principali spunti emersi da WindEurope 2026 a Madrid.

🌍 Dal confronto è emersa una crescente centralità di temi come elettrificazione dei consumi, sviluppo della domanda, flessibilità del sistema e rafforzamento delle reti, a conferma di una fase più matura del dibattito europeo sulla transizione energetica.

📊 Sempre più rilevante anche il tema della fiscalità energetica, riconosciuta come leva decisiva per accompagnare l’elettrificazione. In presenza di segnali fiscali che continuano a favorire gas e fonti fossili, accelerare la domanda elettrica diventa infatti più complesso.

🏛️ In questo contesto, anche le istituzioni europee stanno richiamando la necessità di concentrare gli sforzi regolatori e legislativi su questi ambiti, per sostenere una transizione più solida, competitiva e coerente.

🌱 Un’evoluzione che conferma come la sfida non sia più solo installare nuova capacità rinnovabile, ma costruire un sistema energetico capace di valorizzarla pienamente.

📈💬 Paolo Merli at the 2025 Italian Investment Conference: Unlocking Europe’s Technology Transition

🗓️ Today, Paolo Merli, CEO of ERG, took part in the 2025 Italian Investment Conference, organised by UniCredit and Kepler Cheuvreux — a long-standing platform for dialogue between the international financial community and the top management of Italy’s most prominent listed companies.

🎤 During the panel session “Technology Transition – Key Areas for Europe’s Technology Transition”, he shared ERG’s view on the main challenges and priorities shaping the energy transition: from market design distortions and the urgent need to rebalance investment, risk and remuneration, to the relevance of long-term tools like PPAs, the role of storage, and the strategic value of repowering.

⚠️ Despite positive signals, Europe still lacks timely and structural interventions. Without decisive action, we risk discouraging investments and compromising the success of the energy transition. In contrast, the U.S. offers greater revenue visibility and better alignment between supply and demand — creating a more solid foundation for renewable growth.

🌍 Our position is clear: building a resilient and sustainable electricity system requires consistent regulation and support, evolved market structures, and long-term investment frameworks aligned with the true LCOE of renewables. It also means accelerating the electrification of demand, investing in flexibility and storage, and ensuring that electricity markets reflect — rather than distort — the fundamentals of a decarbonised, capital-intensive energy model.
