CRM is a work approach born in manned aviation, designed to optimize communication, coordination, and decision-making in operations involving multiple people. Over time, it has expanded to sectors where safety is critical: healthcare, maritime, rail, emergency services, industrial plants, and control centers.

🎉 CATUAV turns 25 years old 🎉

A story of vision, innovation, and commitment to the future of the UAS industry.

It all started well before the year 2000, when our founder, Jordi Santacana, was already experimenting with unmanned aircraft and aerial photography. In 2000, he founded CATUAV, one of Europe’s first civilian drone companies, with a clear mission: to develop accessible, high-value aerial data solutions.

🚀 In 2001, Atmos-1 took flight — the first of many internally developed UAVs.
🛰️ In 2005, we shifted from manufacturing to aerial services: mapping, precision agriculture, surveillance, and thermal inspections.
🏗️ In 2014, we pivoted again, inaugurating the 𝐁𝐂𝐍 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫, one of the world’s first dedicated UAS test sites with segregated airspace.
🔧 With BCN Drone Center, we evolved into a true one-stop-shop for the UAS industry, offering expert support in R+D, testing, certification and drone operations.

Veni Vidi Volare ✈️🌍

We were honored to once again host members of PEJUTA - Persatuan Juruukur Tanah Bertauliah Malaysia– the Association of Certified Surveyors of Malaysia at BCN Drone Center for an immersive, hands-on drone training program.

Over the course of a week, participants trained with a range of drone systems—fixed-wing (Delair), VTOL (Avy, RigiTech), and multirotor (DJI)—gaining practical experience in real-world surveying applications.

This initiative reflects not only the rapid growth of the drone sector, but also the international collaboration it inspires. Technology like this doesn’t just lift off it brings people together.
