Over 2,000 °C in a matter of moments — and the copper conductor and earthing rod fuse into one.
This is exothermic welding: a reaction is initiated inside a graphite mould, molten metal fills the space around the connection and solidifies into a single, seamless joint. This is how we make the earthing system joints that will remain underground.
Why not a standard clamp? It is the option most commonly sold in shops: the conductor is pressed against the rod by tightening two nuts. This type of connection costs significantly less than welding, but falls short where it matters most. A clamp provides contact over a relatively small area, whereas welding creates a solid bond between the conductor and the rod. The larger the contact area, the more easily current can flow into the ground — which is precisely what earthing is there for.
There is a second reason. A bolted connection can loosen over time, while moisture and salts in the soil create conditions for corrosion. Once construction is complete, accessing the joint for inspection means digging up the ground again. A welded connection requires no tightening: it does not loosen, offers better resistance to corrosion and is designed to last as long as the conductor itself.
The purpose of earthing is simple and essential. If a fault causes the metal casing of an appliance to become live, earthing, together with protective devices, helps disconnect the affected circuit and reduce the risk of electric shock.
At the end of the video, we show what formed inside the mould.
A smart home is usually associated with what we can see: lighting, climate control and automated scenes. But reliability is built earlier and deeper — including underground. That is why we plan the engineering infrastructure while the home is still under construction.

A modern home can have dozens of connected devices. Should they all have access to one another? 🔐

Cameras, TVs, multi-room audio, phones, computers and Wi‑Fi access points all serve different purposes. Without carefully planned network rules, they may be able to communicate with devices they have no reason to access.

Guests need internet access, but not access to the home’s equipment. The owner may want to view camera feeds on their phone, but a camera has no reason to access their laptop.

That’s why a home network can be divided into groups using VLANs, with access rules defining which connections between those groups are allowed. This helps limit the impact if one connected device becomes vulnerable.

The photos show Ubiquiti UniFi equipment we’re preparing on site: a Dream Machine Pro gateway and a USW Pro 48 PoE switch. The gateway manages the network and its access rules. The switch connects wired devices, while its PoE ports can power compatible cameras and Wi‑Fi access points through their network cables.

The automation in this project is wired. Lighting, blinds and climate control have a dedicated system with their own controllers. As part of the design, we also decide which functions need access through the home network and how that access should be managed.

If you’re building a home and planning automation, think ahead about more than what you want to control. Consider who should have access to each of your home’s systems. We help plan this before the finishing work begins.

FROM OUR PROJECTS

A private residence currently under development in Spain.
Projects of this scale are a good reminder that smart home engineering begins long before the first device is installed.

At this stage, there are no finished interiors, elegant control panels or automated scenarios to show. Instead, there are plans, cable routes, electrical infrastructure and countless engineering decisions that will determine how the different systems of the house work together later.

Getting this foundation right is essential. Lighting, climate, security, networking, energy management and other systems may eventually appear simple to the homeowner — but making them work together seamlessly requires careful planning from the very beginning.

The technology may come later. The engineering starts here.

We’ve been quiet. Our projects haven’t.

Summer may bring a slower rhythm for many, but our work never really stopped. The past months have been filled with ongoing projects, installations, integrations and plenty of engineering challenges to solve.

Now, as summer comes to an end and the pace begins to pick up again, it feels like a good moment to be back here too.

There is a lot worth talking about beyond what we install: why certain engineering decisions matter, how different technologies work together, and what makes a home genuinely smart rather than simply more complicated.

We haven’t shared much of that thinking here lately. Perhaps it’s time we did.

Because the goal is not to put more technology into a home.

It’s to make technology work better together.

The biggest challenge in a large home isn’t technology. It’s integration.

Working on a large-scale private residence of more than 1,900 m² reminded us of something we often see in complex residential projects.
As a home becomes larger and more sophisticated, adding technology becomes the easy part. The real challenge is making every system work together so seamlessly that the homeowner barely notices it’s there.

Lighting, climate control, security, video surveillance, energy management and EV charging can all perform exceptionally well on their own. But true comfort only exists when these systems operate as one intelligent ecosystem.

Homeowners don’t want to manage multiple apps, navigate complex settings or constantly think about how their home works. They simply expect it to maintain a comfortable indoor climate, optimise energy consumption and keep their family safe—quietly and reliably, every single day.

After years of designing and integrating residential projects, we’ve come to a simple conclusion.
A truly smart home isn’t defined by how much technology it contains. It’s defined by how naturally that technology fits into everyday life.

That’s why we never start with products or brands. We start with a much more important question:
How should a home work to make everyday life as comfortable, intuitive and effortless as possible?

What do you think is the single most important feature of a truly intelligent home today?

⸻
Iluminación que se adapta a ti
No solo ON/OFF:
• cambia intensidad y temperatura

• “Noche” → luces suaves, clima ajustado, seguridad activada

What Are Control Panels Really For in a Smart Home?
Our experience as engineers and installers

In many home automation projects, we’re asked the same question:
“Do we really need a control panel if we already have switches and a smartphone?”
It’s a very reasonable question. That’s why we always answer it based on real installation experience.

Sensors allow the house to sense what’s happening.
But control panels are what make the house understandable and comfortable for everyone — not just for the person who set up the app.
⸻
Why switches and smartphones are not always enough

🔹 Switches
Even scene switches have their limits. They don’t show what’s actually happening in the home: whether a window is open, what the current temperature is, if the air conditioning is running, or whether the security system is armed.

🔹 The smartphone
It’s useful… until it isn’t:
• the battery is empty,
• it’s not always nearby,
• guests don’t want to install apps,
• and for many older people, it’s simply not the most comfortable option.

That’s where the control panel really makes a difference.
⸻
What control panels add to everyday life

🔹 Comfort for everyone
We see this all the time: children, guests, and older family members start using the system within minutes.
Large screen, clear icons, no explanations needed.

🔹 The entire home on one screen
From a single panel, you can:
• control lighting,
• adjust climate settings,
• raise or lower blinds and curtains,
• activate scenes like “Leaving Home” or “Cinema”,
• check that everything is switched off and closed.

🔹 Clear, real-time information
Without relying on a smartphone:
• temperature and humidity,
• air quality,
• water leaks,
• security system status.

🔹 Scenes that are actually used
The most common ones in our projects:
• Morning → lighting and climate
• Night → turn everything off with one touch
• Away → security and energy saving
• Guests → comfort without complexity

🔹 Video intercom and cameras
Modern panels can integrate video intercoms and IP cameras, combining control and security in a single interface.
⸻
Where control panels are especially useful

🔹 Living room and kitchen — the main control hub
🔹 Bedrooms — no need to get up or search for your phone
🔹 Children’s rooms — simple and safe access
🔹 Entrance and hallway — “Arriving” and “Leaving” scenes
⸻
Our approach

We don’t install control panels “just because”.
We recommend them when they truly improve the user experience, make the home more intuitive, and are used every day.

If you’re considering home automation — or want to make your current system clearer and more comfortable — we’ll show you real examples adapted to your home, with no obligation.

Practical engineering.
No complications.
No pressure.

• subir o bajar persianas y cortinas,

🔹 Habitaciones infantiles — acceso sencillo y seguro
🔹 Entrada y recibidor — escenas de “Entrar” y “Salir”
⸻
Nuestro enfoque
