One of the most common questions we get: ‘Should I go Dyneema or polyester for my halyards?’

Honest answer: it depends.

POLYESTER - Excellent value. Good UV resistance. Slight stretch. Great for sheets and control lines.

DYNEEMA/HMPE - Minimal stretch = better sail shape. Much lighter. Higher cost. Ideal for halyards on performance yachts.

The right answer depends on your yacht, how you sail, and your budget.

The Guillemot rudder is in our workshop for composite repair and assessment. The damaged area will be opened up and inspected by NDT to establish the full extent of the damage, then the core will be rebuilt and the structural laminate reinstated.

Rudder repairs are an understated part of the job, but they are not one to rush.

A busy week at the splice bench. The team has been building oversized lock strops, plus a good amount of rope, for a superyacht client we can’t name. The lock strops are now painted and ready to ship.

Composite rig conversion, Malta. Another inshore mast is being turned into an offshore weapon.

The team is putting in the hours on carbon laminate prep and a lot of careful sanding, all under containment.

Inshore spec on the way in. Offshore capable on the way out.

New week, new project. Unboxing new rope in Palma to replace the old. Old lines out, new lines in. The project itself stays under wraps for now.
