Can a 3D model change the course of critical in just 24 hours?
Today, we’re highlighting a case that defines our mission at IT3D Group: our collaboration with Dr. Vicente Andrés Sala Almonacil at the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valencia.
✅ The Challenge:
An 82-year-old patient in critical condition (cardiac arrest and anuria) presented with a severe Type IA endoleak and an aortocaval fistula. In cases of such extreme complexity, there is no room for improvisation. Precision is the only way forward.
✅ The IT3D Solution:
Leveraging our express additive manufacturing capabilities, we delivered a 3D-printed aortic anatomical model in PLA within 24 hours, using the IT3D HP300 Dual Mix printer.
✅ The Impact:
This model allowed the surgical team to:
• Perform a PMEG technique (physician-modified endovascular graft) on a Cook Tx2 endoprosthesis.
• Personalize the surgical approach using an exact replica of the patient’s anatomy.
• Ensure the total sealing of the leak and the patient’s stability.
✅ The Outcome:
A successful postoperative recovery with no leaks shown in follow-up scans and the stabilization of the patient's vital levels.
This case proves that Medical 3D Printing isn't the future—it’s the tool allowing surgeons today to win the battle against time and complexity.
