The order you're closing this week ships in December. And you may still not know what day the timber will reach you…

That's September's trap. Everyone comes back, sites restart, dates get asked for... and the last quarter fills up before the raw material is confirmed.

From there on, every commitment is a gamble.

The difference comes down to who controls the cut. When the log enters your own sawmill, the date is set by your own sawing, kilning and grading schedule.

That's what we do at Grupo Gámiz with European beech and oak: sizes cut to your dimensions and a lead time you can hold in front of a customer.

If you still have the last quarter to close, now is when you talk volumes. By November –and you know it– it will be too late.

While you're resting, your wooden deck is having the toughest month of the year.

The midday sun expands it, the afternoon storm swells it, the cool night shrinks it.

And that constant swing of swelling, shrinking and swelling again is what ends up opening cracks, lifting splinters and multiplying the maintenance of any outdoor wood.

Accoya plays in another league. Its acetylation process transforms the wood so it barely absorbs water, so it stops moving with every change in the weather: it stays stable, flat and firm under sun and rain alike.

That's why it's one of the preferred woods for decking, façades and exterior joinery that have to withstand real summers.

There's no such thing as "the best wood." There's the right one for each job, and that's the advantage of having your own sawmill.

In European hardwood no single species beats them all: there's one for each demand. Oak rules where there's hardness, wear or presence; beech, where you need finesse, clean machining and a light, even tone.

But getting the species right means nothing if the wood arrives inconsistent. That's why what matters is who transforms it: controlling the primary processing (sawing, drying and grading in Campezo) is what lets us give you each species at its best and in the exact dimension your job calls for.

At Grupo Gámiz we transform oak and beech so you get the right wood, not the most expensive one.

Think of a fine wood for a high-end interior. Chances are you didn't think of beech. And that's exactly where the opportunity lies.

European beech has everything for high-end interiors (fine grain, warm tone, great strength) and yet it's spent years relegated to uses that don't do it justice.

The difference between run-of-the-mill beech and premium beech? It's not in the forest: it's in how it's transformed.

Sawing, drying and grading it with real care is what turns a noble tree into wood worthy of fine panelling, furniture or a staircase.

That's our role: the industrial link that transforms sustainably managed beech in Campezo and gives it back the place it deserves in interior architecture.

It's also the spirit of - Hardwood For The Home, the project co-funded by the European Union and coordinated by Cesefor Fundación that we're part of: boosting the beech value chain in Spain, from forest to build.

The floor is the one part of a home you touch every single day without noticing. And the wood it's made of changes everything.

A good oak or beech parquet isn't decided in the shop or during installation. It's decided much earlier, at the sawmill: in how the log is opened, the board is dried and every piece is graded.

That's the secret behind a floor that ages with character instead of moving through its first winter.

The warmth, the stability and that grain you fall for don't come from the factory: they come from good primary processing.

That's why we saw European oak and beech in Campezo already thinking about where they'll end up. So that whatever you one day walk on has, underneath, wood that was properly transformed from the very start.

This wood has stopped behaving like wood.

Accoya's acetylation modifies its structure so that it barely absorbs moisture. And when wood doesn't drink water, it stops doing what it has always done: swelling, shrinking, warping, rotting.

That's exactly what the new church of Santa Genoveva, in Majadahonda (Madrid), was looking for. The project, designed by Trasbordo Studio, clads its entire exterior envelope in Accoya Wood: the façade and the bell tower, the point where sun, rain and wind hit without respite.

Construction was carried out by Antana, and the timber was installed by Hermanos Alpa 69.

The beech we saw in Campezo is part of something bigger.

Grupo Gámiz is a partner in LIFE HAYA – Hardwood For The Home, a project co-funded by the European Union and coordinated by Cesefor, which boosts the value chain of beech wood in Spain: from sustainable forest management to primary processing and its applications in construction and interior architecture.

Our role? That of the industrial link: turning certified hardwood into product, closing the distance between the forest and the building site.

Local, traceable beech with a future. That's the wood we stand for.

Today is the day.

Today we officially inaugurate our new hardwood sawmill in Santa Cruz de Campezo: the very place where, in 1942, Grupo Gámiz cut its first board.

84 years later, we return to our roots with a new high-capacity plant specialised in hardwood sawing: 20,000 m³ a year of beech, oak and ash.

"Back to the roots" is not nostalgia. It's knowing where we come from to be clear about where we're going: becoming a benchmark in the primary processing of wood, with products sawn in Álava and ready for industry across Spain and Europe.

Thank you to everyone joining us today to celebrate.
A new era begins👇

In industry, buying hardwood shouldn't be a lottery.

For a manufacturer, the worst surprise is discovering a board that doesn't dry like the previous one, a grading that doesn't match the order, a batch that forces you to check it piece by piece…

And that's the key: hardwood is worth as much as its consistency.

Our primary processing is built precisely to deliver that:

● Controlled drying, for stable, uniform moisture.
● Rigorous grading by quality, batch after batch.
● Sizes cut to the real dimensions of your work.
● Beech, oak and ash to the same standard, every time.

Working with quality hardwood that responds the same way every time is not a luxury: it's what lets you commit to deadlines, set prices and stop rechecking every order.

So, if you're up for it, let's talk grades and volumes 👇

The most sustainable timber is the one that travels the fewest kilometres.

For years, much of Europe's hardwood followed an absurd route: it grew nearby, was sawn far away and came back processed. More transport, less traceability, less control.

Our commitment to primary processing goes precisely against that.

Sawing beech, oak and ash at source means knowing where each board comes from: forest of origin, certified management, a short supply chain and end-to-end control. For the architect looking for timber with a story and traceability. And for the manufacturer who needs consistency and guarantees.

Going back to our roots as sawyers is not looking back. It's the most coherent way we know of looking ahead.
