MÉXICO | CANCÚN & PLAYA PARAÍSO | IRRIGATION AUDIT & GC SURVEY

🇲🇽 Continúa la aventura Mexicana. Tras una intensa semana de trabajo en el campo de golf Iberostar Cancún Golf Club, nos dirigimos a Playa Paraíso para completar las auditorías de los sistema de riego y levantamientos topográficos de los campos de golf del grupo hotelero.

🇬🇧 The Mexican adventure continues. After an intense week of work at the Iberostar Cancun Golf Club, we head to Playa Paraiso to complete the audits of the irrigation system and topographical surveys of the hotel group's golf courses.

La Finca Resort | NINJA TINES

ES | Labores de pinchado hueco de 5.5 mm diámetro interior, marco 2.5 x 4 cm2 y profundidad 4 cm, con el objetivo de impactar sobre el 2.5% de la superficie del green. A continuación, soplado y recogida a pala de los canutos, rulo y siega.

Esta labor tiene el objetivo de controlar el contenido de materia orgánica en la fracción del suelo con más influencia en la firmeza e infiltración del green, la cual evaluamos midiendo con un clegg hammer e infiltrómetro de doble anillo. Además, llevamos a cabo un control de la materia orgánica a distintas profundidades antes y después de estas operaciones para evaluar efectividad de estas labores.

Tras este tipo de pinchado, el green se encuentra en muy buenas condiciones para el juego, evitando el cierre del campo y lucro cesante. Además, minimiza el riesgo agronómico de este tipo de labores con altas temperaturas y estrés hídrico.

The aim of this job is to control the organic matter content in the fraction of the rootzone with the greatest influence on the firmness and infiltration of the green, which we evaluate by measuring it with a clegg hammer and a double ring infiltrometer. In addition, we control the organic matter content at different depths before and after these operations to evaluate its effectiveness.

After this operation, the green is in very good condition for play, avoiding the closure of the course and loss of profit. It also minimises the agronomic risk of this type of work with high temperatures and water stress.

🇪🇸 ¡Qué increíble experiencia en la Reunión Anual de EIGCA de este año! 🌟 Es un honor haber asistido en nuestro primer año como Socio de Bronce. La organización fue impecable, y la compenetración entre los asistentes excepcional. ¡Ya estamos deseando volver a reunirnos en Escocia el año que viene!

Y por si fuera poco, nos traemos a casa algo más que recuerdos: ¡hemos tenido el honor de ganar el Trofeo Paul O'Brian! 🏌‍♂🏆 Gracias a todos los que hicieron posible que este evento fuera inolvidable.

EL ROMPIDO | WATER & TURF REDUCTION

ES | Concluimos la fase de estudio de reducción de área regable y mejora en la eficiencia del uso de agua y energía para el riego de los campos Norte y Sur del resort. El estudio, se ha comprendido de varias fases que han incluido:

➡ Un levantamiento topográfico de ambos campos.
➡ Una auditoría de riego y realización de tests de uniformidad del riego.
➡ La reconfiguración y actualización del software de riego.
➡ Mejora del diseño del riego.
➡ Propuesta de reducción de superficie regable campo de golf.

Llevar a cabo este proceso es vital para realizar una naturalización del campo con garantías de que sea un éxito tras la fase de ejecución. Entre las medidas a ejecutar, destacan la reubicación y anulación de aspersores, el cambio de boquillas de aspersores a gran escala y cambios significativos en la gestión del riego. El objetivo de este estudio es lograr una reducción de un 43% y 27% en la superficie actual de cobertura de riego de los campos.

EN | We have just concluded the project to reduce the irrigable area and improve the efficiency of water and energy use for irrigation at the North and South courses of the resort. The study, comprised of several phases, included:

➡ A topographical survey of both courses.
➡ An irrigation audit and irrigation uniformity tests.
➡ An update and reconfiguration of the irrigation software.
➡ Improved irrigation design.
➡ Proposed reduction of irrigable golf course areas.

Undertaking this process is vital to carry out a successful naturalisation of the course. Among the measures and works to be carried out are the relocation and removal of sprinklers, the change of sprinkler nozzles on a large scale and significant changes in irrigation management. The ultimate aim of this project is to achieve a 43% and 27% reduction in the current irrigation coverage of the golf courses.

GOLF AGRONOMY | CONSULTANCY

ES | Este invierno, enfrentamos una notable escasez de precipitaciones en la cuenca mediterránea. Sumado a ello, el uso de aguas regeneradas con sales y las altas tasas evapotranspirativas recientes, nos exigen gestionar la salinidad del suelo de manera inusual en esta temporada.

Gracias a herramientas tecnológicas avanzadas, monitorizamos constantemente parámetros agronómicos críticos en nuestros greens, lo que nos permite anticiparnos a situaciones de estrés y prevenir problemas antes de que ocurran.

Utilizamos una combinación de herramientas de última generación:
▶ POGO, para medidas puntuales.
▶ SoilScout, integrado en la herramienta MAYA, para monitoreo continuo.
▶ Fieldscout EC meter, para análisis precisos a diferentes profundidades del suelo.

Con estos datos, evaluamos la efectividad de estrategias como fracciones de lavado, flushings, aplicaciones de humectantes penetrantes, yeso o ácido polimaléico.

EN | This winter, we faced a significant scarcity of rainfall in the Mediterranean region. Additionally, the use of reclaimed water high in salts and the recent high evapotranspiration rates require us to manage soil salinity in an unusual manner this season.

Thanks to advanced technological tools, we constantly monitor critical agronomic parameters on our greens, allowing us to anticipate stress situations and prevent problems before they occur.

We utilise a combination of cutting-edge tools:
▶ POGO, for specific measurements.
▶ SoilScout, integrated into the MAYA tool, for continuous monitoring.
▶ Fieldscout EC meter, for precise analyses at various soil depths.

With this data, we assess the effectiveness of strategies such as leaching fractions, flushing, applications of penetrating wetting agents, gypsum, or polymaleic acid.

RC MORALEJA | PROJECT MANAGEMENT | MADRID

🇪 Llegamos a la conclusión de la obra de reforma del lago del hoyo 16 en el campo 2 del Real Club La Moraleja, en la cual hemos ejercido como firma proyectista y directores de obra, llevando a cabo una minuciosa supervisión técnica de los trabajos realizados, así como la coordinación entre el Director del Campo Tony Bonnett y el contratista, y el control del presupuesto.

Gran trabajo por parte de Garden & Golf a pesar de los constantes episodios de lluvia a lo largo de toda la obra. Tras la reforma, el lago ha renovado su estética con mayor seguridad para el jugador, ha mejorado su impermeabilización además de mejorar sus instalaciones de llenado/vaciado.

🇬 We have reached the conclusion of the 16th hole lake renovation works at Real Club La Moraleja's nº2, in which we have worked as design firm and project managers, carrying out a thorough technical supervision of the work done, as well as the coordination between the Golf Course Director Tony Bonnett and the contractor, in addition to the budget control.

Great work by Garden & Golf in spite of the constant episodes of rain throughout the work. After the renovation, the lake has renewed its aesthetics with greater safety for the player. It has also improved its impermeabilization, and intake / outlet structures.
