Valkyrie Team

The Valkyrie team is a rocketry organization integrated by aerospace engineering students from the UPC. The team belongs to the UPC Space Program.

The objective of this project is to create a winged rocket so it could be possible to land and reuse it. The achievement of our objectives will suppose a reduction of the price of launching a rocket. The Valkyrie team was created in the Polythecnic University of Catalonia by 7 Aerospace Engineering students in their last course. The team will launch some test rockets before the definitive one comes in order to prove the subsystems required on it.

The internal structural design has achieve our requirements. It will be made of wooden and will be capable to resist the loads at which will be exposed during the flight. Here we can see an image from the software simulation.

Our Ground Station grows up so fast! Here we can see our new interface where useful data such as altitude will be observed during the rocket's flight.

This week we have been developing some of the subsystems, one of them will be present in the next prototype that will be launched and the other one is planned to be incorporated in future rockets. In one of the following pictures we can see the program that will allow us to communicate in real-time with the rocket knowing parametres such as height, pressure, GPS position, etc. This program will be our Ground Station. On the other picture there's the mechanism to open the wings of the rocket modelled in SolidWorks, where we can also appreciate the new shape of the rocket's future structure.

Valkyrie team is working hard on the planning of our next mission! It will be a rocket designed to prove the electronics and the parachute's mechanism in a new structure.
