Lanzarote’s debut on the 52 SUPER SERIES calendar was brutal: gusts touching 30 knots, confused seas between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, and trade winds that never eased all week

Racing was even called off entirely one day for excess wind. It was the toughest test of the 2026 season, for crews and boats alike.

Andrea Lacorte’s Alkedo Vitamina stayed near the front all week and finished just one point off the lead heading into the final race. A costly early start cost them the win, but they clawed back to a 2nd overall finish. “The boat is fast, the crew is fantastic, and we are pushing hard,” said Lacorte.

Harm Müller-Spreer’s team won the final two races of the regatta despite a spinnaker scare while leading, closing 4th in Lanzarote and holding 2nd overall for the season.

Botín-designed TP52 was launched from our Alginet yard only in late April 2026, barely three months before Lanzarote (King Marine). With Joakim Sundberg on the helm and Ed Baird calling tactics, the young team added another race win to their season tally on the windiest day of the whole week, gusts over 30 knots. “It’s the first time this group has ever sailed these boats in this much wind, and I’m enjoying it,” said Baird.
