》A reservoir rock, on the other hand, is the rock where oil and gas are stored after they have been generated. Once hydrocarbons form in the source rock, they migrate upward through the subsurface until they enter a porous and permeable rock. This rock becomes the reservoir rock. Its pores provide space to store hydrocarbons, while its permeability allows oil and gas to flow through the rock. Common reservoir rocks include sandstone, limestone, and dolomite.
