what is the biggest problems in construction?

People argue from different “truth systems” — without realizing it.

The engineer says:
“The spec is clear. This is non-compliant.” (Realist)

The contractor says:
“That’s your interpretation. Site conditions are different.” (Relativist)

The project manager says:
“We’re already delayed. What solution works now?” (Pragmatist)

All three think they are right.

And in a way… they are.

Here’s where projects go wrong:

- Too much realism → rigid decisions, delays, claims
- Too much relativism → standards get diluted
- Too much pragmatism → short-term fixes, long-term failures

Let’s be honest:

- Specs don’t build projects — people do
- But ignoring specs? That’s how failures start
- And chasing “what works” without control? That’s how quality collapses

Strong leadership is not choosing a side.
It’s knowing when to switch.

- Stand firm on facts when safety is involved
- Be flexible when dealing with contracts and stakeholders
- Be practical when solving site problems under pressure
