Psychedelics rewire the brain. Need proof? - https://mailchi.mp/neurotar/in-vivo-psychedelic-imaging-17458879 One dose of a psychedelic can rewire the brain for weeks. We can now watch it happen in real time: dendritic spines forming, cortical networks reorganizing, plasticity unfolding at every scale.

Two-photon imaging resolves individual synapses. Wide-field imaging maps cortical networks. Together: the full picture of psychedelic-induced plasticity, longitudinally, in awake animals.

Neurotar's new Air Puff Pump Kit delivers clean, quiet, reproducible air puff stimuli without the compressor noise, vibration, or bench clutter that compromises your recordings.

Whisker stimulation, fear conditioning, closed-loop experiments: the pump handles it all, mounted directly on your Mobile HomeCage or HeadFix bridge. No external air source needed.

Studying demyelination? - https://mailchi.mp/neurotar/in-vivo-demyelination-imaging Post-mortem histology only tells part of the story. With longitudinal in vivo two-photon imaging, you can track myelin loss and repair as it happens — in the living brain, at single-cell resolution. At Neurotar, we combine this approach with established demyelination models and transgenic mouse lines to give your preclinical research a sharper edge.

A stroke model that fits a cranial window - https://mailchi.mp/neurotar/in-vivo-imaging-stroke-tbi Can you study stroke at cellular resolution in vivo? Many standard stroke models, such as MCAO, are incompatible with cranial windows.

Our laser-induced microstroke and focal lesion models create localized brain injury within an otherwise healthy imaging field, enabling high-resolution, longitudinal two-photon imaging of vascular and cellular responses in the living brain.

Why image pancreatic islets in the brain? - https://mailchi.mp/neurotar/brain-as-window-into-diabetes-17456647 When a diabetes researcher first asked us about head fixation, we thought he didn’t quite fit our “neuroscience box.”

Nine years later, pancreatic islets are being imaged longitudinally on the brain of awake mice—revealing vascular integration, preserved metabolic function, and β-cell Ca²⁺ activity.

Join us on March 26 to learn why researchers at Karolinska chose the brain as a window for their work.

Out of the “neuroscience box”: imaging the awake brain for diabetes research - https://mailchi.mp/neurotar/brain-as-window-into-diabetes-17456618

We almost turned this project away. Nine years later, pancreatic islets are being imaged on the brain of awake mice - showing vascular integration, metabolic function, and β-cell Ca²⁺ activity over time.

Join us on March 26, 2026, to see how this came together and what it means for diabetes research.

Small upgrades, big impact - https://mailchi.mp/neurotar/awake-imaging-on-budget-17455836 Better data doesn’t always require a new microscope.

Many older, small-frame two-photon and wide-field systems can be upgraded with the Mobile HomeCage, enabling stable imaging and behavioral readouts in awake, behaving mice.

Add simple visual or tactile cues. Track locomotion. Repurpose equipment you already own. All at a fraction of the cost of a new 2P system.

Awake mice need vigilant imaging. Meet Invigilo-4, now modular - https://mailchi.mp/neurotar/wide-field-imaging-awake-mice-17455172 Start with a cost-efficient single-channel system for cortex-wide imaging in awake, head-fixed mice. Then upgrade as your science evolves: extra channels, behavioral video tracking, automated analysis — you choose. Because cognition happens during behavior, not anesthesia.
