Kid-approved architecture

A conversation between an architect and two little Oulunkylä kids:
– Hey, is that building like… already done? What even is it?
– Yeah, it’s a parking garage for people living around here. Just wrapped up. And uh—I’m actually the architect who made it.
– No way! Then you gotta be a good architect, ’cause that thing looks awesome!

You don’t get compliments this real and unfiltered too often. Anyway—the Teininrinne parking garage is finished now. Can’t wait to see it once the climbing plants start going wild!

The redevelopment of Mellunmäki’s center is moving forward

The zoning proposal for Mellunmäki’s center was greenlit by the city this week. INARO is involved in the project, designing a new 16-storey tower for HOAS. The building draws its character from Mellunmäki’s existing postmodern architecture: its playful, rounded form references the architecture of the 1980s, and its blue coloration echoes the façades of the metro station.

The Hannusranta zoning plan is a success!

The reference plan for Hannusranta in Espoo, designed by INARO, has received praise from the developer. The flexible design of the plan enables diverse and cost-efficient construction in a unique location where the metro meets the lakeshore.
Construction is set to begin in 2026.

INARO advances in the Melkinlaituri invited competition

INARO moves forward from the shared second place in the invited competition for the Melkinlaituri residential block in Jätkäsaari! The jury selected our proposal as the basis for further design, which will be developed in collaboration with Hausia, who organized the competition.

General Plan for Green Transition

INARO, together with Finnmap Infra, is preparing a master plan for the Hepomäki area in Kuopio, commissioned by the City of Kuopio. The goal is to attract new businesses related to the circular economy, green transition, and clean energy to the area. The master plan will present alternative proposals for the future land use and transport network of the area. The general plan is part of the Green Transition Feasibility Study for Hepomäki, also known as the Hevisiirto project. The project is funded by the EU’s Just Transition Fund (JTF) through the North Savo Regional Council.

A trio of gabled blocks under construction in Oulunkylä

A complex of three buildings, consisting of rental and right-of-occupancy housing owned by the City of Helsinki, is under construction in Oulunkylä. These projects complete the infill development along tram line 15 on the southern side of Käskynhaltijantie. The buildings blend into the surrounding architecture with their gabled roofs, brick tones, and regular window patterns. Subtle variations in brick color and jointing style give each building a slightly differing character.
