At the OSTP Jakobstad site, a hydrofluoric acid leak occurred on 1 June 2026 at 20:56 EET.
The fire brigade arrived quickly on site and emergency response actions were initiated immediately. The fire brigade, together with our own experts, were present, and response actions were carried out in close cooperation with the authorities. The amount involved was approximately 300 litres. The spill area was limited to a separate acid handling room, isolated from the production facilities, and to the asphalted yard area.
Most importantly, no injuries occurred, and the situation was under control at all times, with no risk to the surrounding area.
The incident also highlights the importance of regular major incident drills. Thanks to preparation, clear procedures and a calm response, the evacuation was carried out safely and efficiently.
Follow-up work is still ongoing, and we continue to ensure that operations can resume safely.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our personnel and the rescue services for their professional cooperation and responsible response.
