Today, Tuesday 28 April, we observe the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. The day highlights everyone’s right to a safe and healthy working environment.
At Scanpole, occupational safety is an integral part of everyday work and is taken seriously across the entire group. Improving workplace safety is an ongoing effort carried out in close cooperation with our employees. A concrete example of this is the regular safety walks conducted at all our sites, aimed at identifying and preventing potential safety hazards.

In its decision, the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has also extended the approval of creosote-treated telecommunications and electricity poles until 2033. As a result, the production and sale of creosote-treated poles will continue without interruption on the UK market.

Scanpole’s creosote-treated poles hold a strong position in both telecommunications and electricity networks. For our customers, they represent a reliable and long-lasting solution. As an alternative, we also offer Pole+ poles treated
with copper oil, which are seeing clearly growing interest among our customers, says Simon Pears, Senior Vice President of Sales at Scanpole UK Limited.

Today is the International Day of Forests! The International Day of Forests reminds us of the importance of forests as a part of our lives. Forests provide food, energy and livelihoods, and they form an inseparable part of our well being.

This year, the International Day of Forests is celebrated under the theme “Forests and Economies.” At Scanpole, our business depends on forests and their wellbeing. That’s why we source the wood used in our products from responsible and sustainable origins.

After a cold start to the year, spring is beginning to arrive in Finland as well. This week in Polvijärvi, North Karelia, Enerke Oy began the construction of a new power line in sunny but snowy conditions.

This winter, we have delivered a large number of poles from our Ilseng factory to projects in both Norway and Sweden. The past winter has been exceptionally cold across Scandinavia, offering us the rare chance to enjoy an unusually high number of Northern Lights. Our transport partner, Torp Transport, delivered poles to northern Norway in the Lofoten Islands, where this stunning photo was taken as they were unloading a Pole+ shipment in Sjøvegan.

This past winter has been exceptionally cold throughout Scandinavia. Although temperatures in Swedish Lapland, have repeatedly dropped to –20°C, the cold has not stopped the construction of power lines. In the photo, our partner Lars Persson Åkeri is transporting copper-oil-impregnated Pole+ poles from the Ilseng factory to a Skellefteå Kraft project site to projects in Skellefteå kommun and Jokkmokk regions.

Beautiful photos from Scotland, from Stornoway! We delivered more than 1,300 extra stout poles to our customer, SSE Transmission, for this major project. The cooperation went smoothly, and the biggest challenges of the project came from the Hebrides’ stunning but demanding nature. The rugged terrain, challenging weather conditions, and the need to respect the peace of nesting birds all posed difficulties for the installers, but the new line will provide the island’s residents with a more reliable electricity supply for decades to come.
