We're always glad to share customer stories from around the world, and this time we're making a interesting stop in Australia to a customer who was one of the first in Australia to receive a TANA shredder, back in 2014.

Based in Bendigo, Victoria, Hopley Group processes tens of thousands of tons of waste, diverting everything from construction and demolition material to timber, tyres, mattresses, and green waste.

After running that first machine reliably for over a decade, the team has now upgraded to a new-generation TANA Shark to push efficiency and recycling performance even further.

Twelve years, one shredder, and a decision the team has now made twice. So what convinced Hopley Group to go back to Tana, what does the new Shark bring to the table, and what happened to the old one?

Are you motivated by designing electrical solutions for robust machines and seeing your work come to life in demanding environments? As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a key part in developing and maintaining the electrical systems used in TANA machines.

In this role, you design electrical schematics, layouts, and architectures for new products and product variants. You define component selections and wiring solutions, ensuring that designs meet both functional requirements and relevant standards.

We are looking for someone with relevant technical degree and solid experience in electrical engineering, preferably within mobile equipment, industrial machinery or similar environments. You are familiar with electrical CAD tools and understand how to produce clear and structured technical documentation.

Tana Oy has launched Tana Wingman for smarter and safer shredder operations

Meet Tana Wingman, a new operator interface with a live machine view. It brings key machine data together with real-time camera view of the hopper and rotor camera directly to an easy-to-use tablet interface. With Tana Wingman, operators can monitor operational and performance indicators such as fuel and DEF levels, engine and hydraulic load levels, and even output capacity.

Most important functions that are found on the shredder´s TCS can be handled directly from the cabin:

✅ Select and adjust shredding processes
✅ Clear process interruptions

At this Italian landfill, machine quality is measured in decades

There is a landfill site in Italy that very few people outside the industry know about. From a distance, it looks like many other landfill operations across central Europe: steep working faces, trucks coming in and out, and the daily operations of managing thousands of tons of waste.

But for those who work there, the site tells a different story: one about long-term reliability, operational trust, and machines that rarely leave the job for good.

Today, the landfill operates three different TANA compactor series side by side. The newest machines handle the majority of the daily work, while an older F series compactor, nearly 30 years old, is still occasionally brought back into operation when needed.

It is rare to see three different series of the same brand still working at a single landfill site. But according to the operators, the reason is simple: over the years, the machines proved themselves in the conditions that matter most.

The working area is demanding, with steep slopes and constantly changing terrain. Maintaining traction and stable movement is critical for both productivity and safety. Operators say one of the biggest differences has always been TANA´s ability to maintain compaction performance while continuing to work effectively without sinking into the waste mass.

Over time, newer TANA series joined the fleet, but the older machines never fully disappeared from the operation. Instead, they remained part of the site’s working life.
