Time to introduce another member of the Cactos team. Meet Kimmo, Development Manager in our software team. 🌵👋
Kimmo’s role is varied, but at its core his job is problem-solving: working with the team to find ways for developing our operations and our product. That means planning our software, deciding what to build and setting priorities. He also takes care of the tasks that keep things running and puts out fires when needed, so our software experts can focus on their work. ✅
For Kimmo, it all comes down to one word: “Helping is the key word. I want to help our customers, and help my colleagues help them. I’ve seen how great it is when people are willing to help each other, and I want to be that kind of colleague too.”
Kimmo has a background in electrical engineering studies and did a doctorate in electromagnetics. Cactos presented an opportunity to get back to this root, and the ambitious mission interested him. Building both hardware and software was also new to him, and with his startup background, he was curious to join and see how everything takes off.
Right after joining, he helped launch our electricity retail business and build the systems to run it, including everything related to billing. It’s now his own area, and he keeps developing it. He also works on what our customers see in the Spine app. Next up are integrations for payment flows and contracts, but as he puts it: “I’m flexible, so I take on whatever moves things forward.”
Outside of work, Kimmo spends time outdoors and runs a music website that lists musicians’ roles and credits. He also likes working with his hands. He has built two houses, spent this summer on renovations, and even built his own woodworking bench. 🪵
