🏭 ISO standards influence how the shipyard operates, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement in everything we do.

🌐 IMO regulations define what ships must comply with, covering safety, environmental protection, and operational requirements at sea.

📐 Classification societies set the rules for how ships are built, verifying structural integrity, systems, and safety throughout the lifecycle of a vessel.

🔧 Technical standards guide how materials are selected and how welding is carried out, ensuring strength, durability, and reliability in every detail.

Together, these standards enhance global collaboration, ensure safety and quality, and support more sustainable shipbuilding.

This week marks the 30th National Energy Saving Week in Finland. We have also strengthened the shared principles and objectives that guide our energy efficiency efforts, which have already delivered results.

🔋 Our new Energy Management Policy aims to improve energy performance and reduce the environmental impacts associated with energy use at the shipyard. To support our goals, the policy provides guidelines for establishing measurable energy objectives, targets and action plans, while promoting the use of low-emission energy sources.

“Energy efficiency is not a separate project, but an integral part of the shipyard’s normal management processes and continuous improvement. The new policy helps us systematically embed proven practices into decision-making, investments and daily operations,” says Ville Saksi, Deputy CEO of Meyer Turku.

⚓ Key themes of our Energy Management Policy include:
• continuous improvement of energy performance
• monitoring, measurement and analysis of energy use to support decision-making
• consideration of energy performance in procurement and investment decisions
• promotion of low-emission energy sources
• ensuring adequate resources, competencies and clearly defined responsibilities for effective energy management

Haku Meyer Turun Laivanrakennusoppilaitoksen syksyn laivalevyseppähitsaaja- sekä laivaputki- ja koneasentajakoulutuksiin on nyt käynnissä! Hakuaika päättyy 27.11.2026.

🗓️ Rekrykoulutukset järjestetään 1.2.2027-26.8.2027. Kuuden kuukauden koulutuksiin sisältyy teoriaopintojen lisäksi perustyövaiheiden harjoittelua oppilaitoksen harjoituspajoilla ja työharjoittelua telakan tuotannossa.

Käytännönläheisistä koulutuksista saat valmiudet työskennellä laivalevyseppähitsaajan tai laivaputki- ja koneasentajan tehtävissä. Koulutuksen hyväksytysti suorittaneilla on mahdollisuus työllistyä telakalle.

Odotamme hakijoilta hyviä työelämätaitoja, motivaatiota ja intoa oppia uutta. Koulutukset ovat tarkoitettu työttömille ja työttömyysuhan alaisille työnhakijoille, joilla on työvoimaviranomaisen toteama koulutustarve.

⚓ Mein Schiff 7 was bunkered with methanol for the first time on August 31. MS7 was supplied with 25 cubic meters of methanol from renewable feedstocks. Built at our shipyard and delivered to TUI Cruises in 2024, MS7 is the seventh ship in the Mein Schiff series, and one of the first cruise ships in the world able to use methanol as fuel.

🔋 Mein Schiff 7 was the first vessel built at Meyer Turku with methanol readiness. Methanol will be used for steam generation while the ship is connected to shore power in Baltic Sea ports. Together, shore power and methanol help minimize emissions during port stays. Looking ahead, two of the ship’s four main engines are also designed to be converted for methanol operation.

🎉 Today we are celebrating 50th anniversary of the Turku shipyard!

Operations at the Turku shipyard in Perno started in 1976, the new shipyard was built to meet the growing demands of shipbuilding and to enable the construction of increasingly larger vessels. Its official inauguration took place on 22 September 1976, exactly 50 years ago today!

What began as one of Finland’s most significant industrial investments, has grown into one of the world’s leading builders of cruise ships. Over the past five decades, thousands of people have contributed to the shipyard’s success and helped shape its remarkable history.

As we celebrate this milestone year, we extend our thanks to everyone who has been part of the Turku shipyard’s journey since 1976. ⚓

⚓ The fifth Icon Class ship reached an important milestone today as its keel was laid at the Meyer Turku shipyard. With the first steel block now in place, the hull assembly of the vessel is officially underway. Icon 5 is set to debut in 2028.

Building a series of ships allows us to continuously learn, improve and innovate, and each new vessel benefits from the expertise gained throughout the program. Hero of the Seas was floated out on September 4. Here's what it looked like in action. 🌊

⚓ Big news for Hero of the Seas! Hero was floated out on September 4 and now continues the ship's outfitting phase. Hero is the fourth Icon Class vessel built at the Meyer Turku shipyard.

🌊 As part of the float out, the ship’s dry dock was filled with more than 90 million gallons of water as Hero moved into the outfitting pier, where it will continue to take shape over the next year.

🗨️ "Hero of the Seas is another important milestone in the long-standing partnership between Meyer Turku and Royal Caribbean. Building consecutive Icon Class ships has enabled continuous development of our expertise, production processes and energy-efficient shipbuilding solutions together with our partners and thousands of shipbuilding professionals involved in the project. We are proud to see Hero of the Seas move one step closer to delivery," says Casimir Lindholm, CEO of Meyer Turku.
